College Education, Should Your Kids go to College?

College education, should your kids go to college?  I have often wondered if my kids should go to college.  I went, but I never finished because of bills and then starting a family.  I am happy and I make a pretty good living for me and my family. All I ever want for my children is that they be happy with themselves in life.  Does that mean they should get a college education?  I truly believe that’s up to them.

I try my best to be the best dad I can be, so I will keep talking to them about college and ask them what they want to be when they grow up.  Based on their answers, if what they mention they want to be requires a college education, then I will tell them that they need one and the best way to get it.

One good thing about the times we live in now, is that there are numerous ways to get a college education.  You can go to a college straight out of high school like most kids do or you can go to work straight out of high school and take online courses.  For instance, if one of my kids wanted to go to a graphic design schools in florida then I would help them find all the different ways they could achieve that.  As a parent, whether we believe in a college education or not, we should talk to our kids and try our best to nudge them in the right direction, but in the end, it’s up to them to decide.

There are many sites out there that offer online courses for the busy young adults.  This is the route I went for what I do now.  I didn’t go to that school, but I did get my trade skill online and it has helped me tremendously in life.  We aren’t rich with money, but we are happy and my kids have more than I did at their age and I truly believe that as a dad, that’s all that I could’ve hoped for.
