I find it very difficult to find appropriate music for my children. It seems like some of the most common songs that are on the radio today are just not appropriate for my kids. Maybe I’m just going too far with my parenting but it seems like I am hearing so much slander and inappropriate behavior through the music on the radio.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to watch what goes through my children’s ears when it comes to music on the radio. Some of your most basic songs that are in the top 100 today are so inappropriate that it makes me sick.
What I have done is actually sit down and created CDs for me and my children to listen to and I have also filtered radio stations on their content. Am I going too far with something like this?
I know that this music is inappropriate and I don’t want my children to hear it but I know that other children are listening to it. I don’t want my children to be different and not listen to the same music that other children listen too. I just don’t want them to learn or hear about inappropriate things before they are old enough.
I’m really in a pickle with this situation because I have to choose whether to let them grow up fast like the rest of the children in the world or to have them grow up like I did in the old days. I believe parenting is going out the window somewhat and I don’t like that idea.
I’m really interested in hearing what other parents do and what they have to say about their children’s listening habits on the radio. Even a lot of the songs they are putting on the children’s CDs are still inappropriate which is unbelievable. Just because the music doesn’t have swear words in it doesn’t mean it’s appropriate.
I would really like help on this one so all this is somewhat of a commenting stage. I would even enjoy some advice from a mother or two because my children do not have a mother in their life. What do you think is right and wrong when it comes to your children listening to certain music on the radio?
