No date yet, but the achievements are already up, even on Xbox.com, so it is going to be very, very soon.  Lvl cap will be 61.

Hey Mark, if you see me online and want to play send me an invite.  I'll play it with someone, but never have the desire to put it in and play it alone.  I do want to play, but just can't take MW2 out without a good reason lol...

I'm like a lvl 18 or something, so not far ahead of you.

how do you camp in borderlands?

Count me in Mike.  I'll be on 8 PST tomorrow to do an MLG MW2 match, but I'm sure we'll lose pretty quickly, so maybe after that I'll do some co-op with you.  You'll have to bust out your lower level guys for me though.  I'm on my second go around trying to get to level 24 haha...  Maybe it will let me get past it this time.  Stupid game!

I finally got the Dr. Ned expansion DLC and so far its pretty fun. think its glitched though, when I went to meet Dr. Ned and got up the elevator it didn't go all the way up to the top. it stopped just below the landing and I had to jump way off to the right onto a broken piece of siding to get up there. all in all though it is fun solo but probably more fun co-op. I am still only level 46 and need to get my hunter to level 50 and get the cheevy. I got just a couple more achievements to have gotten them all. prob. won't get the underdome DLC  as I haven't played the in game arena one yet.

am probably off tomorrow night if anyone up for some Borderlands co-op. got several low level characters too to level up level 7-12 if you have a new character to level up to. really want to hit that 50 cap though. if interested pm me or send an invite on live.

I read that too.  Man I hope this DLC is more like Dr. Ned Zombies and not like the Moxxi Underdome.  Can't wait.  Now I just need to quite slacking and get those last two lvls for my Hunter and Beserker.  Yeah, I played this game a bit and got all 4 to lvl 50 or close to it.

I haven't even gotten past level 24 yet.  I need to get back into this game.  It was a lot of fun, but don't get me wrong, I did get tired of killing skag after skag after skag...

Maybe I'll put down MW2 and get back into this one.

I just read an article on IGN.com about new DLC for Borderlands. It's going to include a level cap increase!!! Can't wait to get my soldier above level 50.

January 21, 2010 - Have your fill of Borderlands yet? Yeah, neither have we, and there is even more coming.

A Gearbox Software designer confirmed on the studio's official message board a new downloadable content (DLC) pack is on the way, finally raising player level caps.

"After finalizing Zombies DLC, the team and I began reading the DLC feedback around the forums on the wants and desires. Guess what, level cap increase anyone? Got it and it's awesome," the designer wrote.

The update will also fix several bugs, and is promised to be the "biggest DLC" the studio has made for the game to date.

A full announcement is expected soon, so stay tuned!

I loved the Zombie Island DLC, definitely worth it.  The Underdome, uuuummmmm, not so much.  It is just wave after wave.  If you die, you go back to wave 1 round 1, so multiplayer is a must.  5 waves and then you go to the next round.  Repeat 5 times.  After each round, you get some wpns.  So far they have all been crap, nothing worth keeping.  And the 5 waves for 5 rounds is the SMALL TOURNAMENT.  The large tournament is 5 waves for 25 ROUNDS!!  Haven't tried that one once yet.  But I love playing Borderlands and this definitely adds a lot of life to it.  I can't argue w/ that.  Still, if you gotta play Borderlands, get the Island of Dr. Ned, and then if you are still addicted like myself and others, get the Underdome DLC.

Never had any problems myself, but w/ the new DLC, there will be 2 new skill points you can earn as well as a bank box for storage of weapons.   :excited:  Gearbox has stated that the new DLC will not just be more of the arena fights found in the game, but will be more like a Horde or Firefight mode, but where you can win cash prizes and guns like Smash TV.  Oh Hell Yeah!!!  Can't wait to win some more kicka** gear.

Quote
New York, NY - December 10, 2009 – 2K Games announced today that the second piece of downloadable content for Borderlands™, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, will be available on December 29, 2009 from the Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 800 Microsoft Points and on January 7, 2010 from the PlayStation®Network for $9.99. The downloadable content will also be available on Windows PC. This explosive piece of action-driven content is in development at Gearbox Software and provides players with more methods of destruction as they tear through the denizens of Pandora.

Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot is an intense single-player or cooperative experience that expands the mayhem by adding three new Riot Mode arenas where players will endure an onslaught of Pandora’s baddest enemies. Working together, players will fend off the masses as they fight for fame, honor, and more importantly, loot. Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot also adds a new bank feature, which allows players extra storage capacity for when they encounter one of the more than 16 million weapons that Borderlands has to offer; and the ability to acquire two additional skill points as quest rewards, making their characters even more powerful than before.

Quote
Just completed a lightning round phone interview with Gearbox regarding the next DLC pack of "Borderlands," entitled "Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot." The initial press release mentioned a focus on arena-based play, and, based on the few arena quests that were in the original release, I didn't think that sounded tremendously interesting. Gearbox's Jon Hemingway, the designer on the next DLC pack, was happy to clarify just what we can expect.

I started off by mentioning the arena quests from the first game, and Hemingway was quick to correct me:

"This is totally different...basically the idea is that we have this character, Moxxi. She's running this underground coliseum tournament arena thing. The best thing you could compare it to is either Horde mode in 'Gears of War 2' or Firefight mode in 'ODST.' But even those don't quite sum it up.

"It's all about this crazy Moxxi character, and she's running these tournaments. You go in and fight waves and rounds of monsters, and then she starts changing it all up. She throws out what are called 'Moxxi Maxims,' these rules that dramatically change the way the game play. She'll be like, 'Vampire Rule!' which makes it so that the player's health is constantly draining, but every time you get a kill you get a whole bunch of health back. Now all the players are like, 'Holy crap, I have to play amazingly aggressive,' so you have to charge in before you basically bleed out. Another example, she'll go 'Shotgun Challenge,' where all shotguns do bonus damage and all other guns take a penalty."

The comparisons to "Firefight" seem pretty apt, but in terms of the scale and length, it seems like these battles will go considerably longer. Regarding the play time:

"There's a small tournament and a big tournament. The small tournament takes probably about an hour, and most people will be able to get through that. The big tournament...one of the things people have been asking for is for something that challenges them, and that's what the big tournament is. I think the last time I went through it, it took me six hours to get through a big tournament. You can't save your progress, you have to do it in one sitting, but you can stop, walk away from it and come back [Ed note: You just can't turn the system off]. It's really hardcore. To get through the big tournament, you'll have to get some friends who are very good and you'll all have to plan out what people are going to do and what weapons you're bringing."

The complaints that "Borderlands" may have been too easy will probably be put to rest once people spend an entire Saturday trying to complete one of these big tournaments. Hardcore indeed.

Oh, and while we're at it, here's official, unedited pitch from Gearbox's Randy Pitchford:

This is an ENTIRELY NEW GAME MODE.
Think ODST's "Firefight" or Gears of War's "Horde Mode".
Cash, prizes and competition!
It's like Smash TV in coop FPS, but in the Borderlands.

This DLC expands greatly on the possibilities of combat as well adding a ton of new rules such as vampire mode or low gravity mode etc. This is not just deathmatch arenas [sic].

These are not just new deathmatch areas.

Yes, he said that twice. His rabid enthusiasm even comes through in email form.

This is something I came across on the Game Informer website, I don't know if its fixed but thought we all should know............

Home News Crippling Bug Found In Borderlands’ Co-op
News by Jeff Marchiafava on October 27, 2009 at 02:29 PM 19,582 Views   96

Sure, Borderlands is more fun with a friend – but it’s also more dangerous. Not long after the insanely addictive RPS was released, gamers started posting some serious complaints to Gearbox’s technical support forum regarding a devastating bug in Borderlands – and isn’t a King Spiderant or Mothrakk.

Players are complaining about the loss of skill points after joining or leaving co-op games, with no way to get them back. The affected character is still the same level they were before the problem – they just don’t have any points in their skill tree, which removes all of their passive abilities. Turning the game off doesn’t fix the problem, and trying to reallocate skill points at a New-U station also has no effect. Other players have had similar problems with weapon proficiencies being reset to zero as well.

The cause of the problem is unknown at the moment, but one of the common symptoms is poor connection quality before the bug occurs, which have led some to believe it’s a packet loss problem.

Gearbox has acknowledged the bug is real, listing the frequency of both the loss of skill points and weapon proficiency progress as being “Very Low” on its Known Issues list. It also states the disappearance of equipped items upon leaving co-op games as known bug, though fewer users have complained about it.

The list confirms the bug exists in both the 360 and PS3 versions, but PC users have also started complaining about the same issues. Borderlands’ lead programmer Steve Jones has been promptly responding to complaints on Gearbox’s forums and appears optimistic. In regards to players losing their skill points, he posted, “Your report has been heard and we're working on it. Unfortunately there isn't a fix just yet, but when one is available we hope to be able to repair as much of your character data as possible.”

We’re betting Jones’ comments won’t win over skeptical gamers or those who have already had their character crippled by the bug. After all, what’s he supposed to say? “Holy sh*t, that’s a big problem. You’re totally screwed...” But it makes sense that a quick fix could work; gaining skill points is uniform – you get one point for each level. And since players affected by the bug are reportedly still at the same level, it should be easy enough to reinstate the correct number of points. Right?

Weapon proficiencies may be another story. These progress independently from your level, and depend on how much you use a specific class of weapon. If that data is lost, there might not be an easy way to get it back. But don’t give up hope just yet; in a post related to one user’s weapon proficiency not increasing, Jones states that, “The proficiency points are stored separately from the proficiency level. This bug appears to be setting proficiency points down to 0 so you don’t see any progress since you have less proficiency than is required for your proficiency level.” If this is the case, then perhaps the separately stored data could help Gearbox reinstate lost proficiency levels too.

Whatever the outcome, Gearbox has been explicit that their goal is to restore all the data missing from affected characters. Whether that’s possible remains to be seen, but we’re going to go ahead and chalk this one up to being another unfortunate example of the one-save-for-everything approach screwing over gamers.

We will update you as soon as Gearbox announces/releases a solution. Until then your best bet is to manually copy your Borderlands save to an Xbox 360 Memory Card from the Dashboard menu before you play online. Hey, it looks like we finally have a reason to buy a memory card!

More DLC incoming.  I'll be firing this bad boy back up for sure when this drops.
Quote
Gearbox’s software creative director, @mikeyface, promised an announcement on Borderlands yesterday, but clearly something happened and it was held back. Well, Borderlands has just received new trophies which pretty much confirm that new downloadable content will be heading to the Role-Playing Shooter soon. Gaze at the lovely new silverware below:

Bronze

Small Tournament
Completed the lesser challenge in all 3 coliseums

Silver

Hell-Burbia
Completed the larger challenge in the Hell-Burbia coliseum

The Angelic Ruins
Completed the larger challenge in The Angelic Ruins coliseum

The Gully
Completed the larger challenge in The Gully coliseum

Gold

Big Tournament
Completed each of the larger challenges in all 3 coliseums

It is rather evident that the DLC will be focused around arena challenges. They were optional sidequests found in the original game which had you facing 2-3 waves of some truly badass enemies. There were fewer missions of these than I would have liked, so it’s great to see Gearbox expanding on it. I’m sure a formal announcement will be made soon, so keep your eyes locked to TSA for more about what I’m sure will be another piece of epic DLC.

Whenever, I'm ready.  I love Borderlands.  I love MW2, I'm just not obsessed w/ it as others and I enjoy the switch.  So right now I play MW2 and Borderlands, and the DLC is totally worth the $10.  Adds a good bit of content and is fairly priced in my eyes.  But from what I'm reading, whenever I can finally get AC2, that game will be in the mix as well.  That game looks sick, can't wait, and then Mass Effect 2 in January.  Oh yeah, gotta get my MW2 in now b/c it's gonna get put on the back burner soon.  But I'll play Borderlands w/ anyone that needs help.
