I was pretty sure it was a joke when I saw that it was in "Anything Allowed", but with our government, I wouldn't put it past them to try it!

Well he did get me on this one.  Called my co-workers over, as we were having our daily, Hate the federal government, conversation.  I was writing my response when I noticed the name of the company again.

I just let me co-workers believe it to be true though.

I know the trick w/ Fro.  He puts legitimate stuff in the "news" thread, but his jokes are in the "anything allowed" thread.

Quite true.  Good observation.    :plus1:

so i am going to be taxed so that in the event i do not take care of my responsibility there is a pool of money.  What a load of BS.  Lets punish the masses because a percentage of dads to not own up to their responsibility.  Thats it... i am moving my family to the island that i recently discovered.  It is called Point Berger... there will be Executive Lodging accommodations for DP members, and no taxes... who's on board, Chad: bring the gun, Chef: the food, Fro: some extra women, Pat: Beer...

time to party DP style, and show them what we think of the tax

just one more way Sam wants to reward bad behavior at the cost of punishing good behavior, why do we even bother trying to act civilized?

What a bunch of crap. You would never see a "Dead beat mom" tax. Also, alot of dead beat dads would most likely not make that much money in the first place, so this would do no good. I am against the notion that you should punish everyone for the downfalls of the few. Just like in MO where we have to show ID just to buy some OVER THE COUNTER cold medicines.

The new "Dad Tax"
« Reply #1 on: April 01, 2010, 01:21:57 PM »
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Conservative think tank, Lirpa Loof Associates, has been going over the recent Health Care Reform legislation looking for give-aways, taxes and other items hidden by the crafters of the bill.  Today they announced the discovery of what amounts to a tax on Fathers.  Dubbed the "Dad tax", this section of the bill is officially called the Fatherhood Responsibility Act.   In essence, it is a .314% per-child tax will be charged to fathers who earn over $66,000 per year.  Like much else in the legislation the income level is not indexed, so in 5 to 10 years, you can see that number effectively drop to those who are now earning $40,000 or less.   The purported aim of this act is to create of pool of money from which to pay child support in cases where the father turns out to be a "dead beat dad".   House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked about this provision in an interview with RedState.com's reporter Bud Dwyer.  Speaker Pelosi explained it's inclusion as "...many fathers do not live up to their legal responsibilities, so it makes sense to start collecting from these men before they have a chance to stop paying."   Reaction has been mixed to the discovery of this tax, even within Congress.  One House member, who wished not to be named, believes that it's very likely that this concept originated with either Barney Frank or Jared Polis.
