I am so sorry for your loss Richard. The service sounds like it was a good and honorable service which is nice. That being said congrats on the soon to be grand baby! Babies do bring joy.

Congrats on the new baby Richard.  I know it doesn't seem so great for work to start, but it might actually be for the best to get your mind on something.  Not at first no doubt, but eventually maybe you will start to get your mind on the work and while memories are always good, sometimes we linger more than we should.  Keep your head up bro.

I want to thank you all for your kind words and support. She definately was one in a million. Since the begining of this post I have returned to work. I would have liked to take a few more days off just to get my self together, but with my wife's illness going on for the previous couple of months my leave time has dwindled down to near nothing. Thanks for the wishes for a better coming year, not to worry, my son's girlfriend is due to deliver their second child the first week in March, so I have something to look forward to.

I'm glad to hear about the new baby in your life, baby's always bring happiness to family's!!!!

Wife's Funeral Service
« Reply #1 on: January 02, 2010, 12:13:23 PM »
We layed my Jewel to rest on Thursday.  It was a beautiful service. It was a bright sunny day, clear blue skies, with cold wind coming from the east. Her older sister gave a eulogy that really nailed it on the head about  what a loving and caring person she was and how lucky we were to have had her in our lives. A truely heartbreaking moment for me was when my step-daughter was saying her final good-byes, she wept uncontrollalbly, tied her long hair back (it went all the way down her back) into a ponytail, then, as our traditions go, cut it off, placing it with her mother.

At the gathering afterwards, there were so many people that came to me to tell me what a great person, friend, co-worker she was. Others said how much she had helped them in their times of need in her role as a court clerk. Someone said "I was at my lowest. My marriage was ending, he was leaving me for someone else and she helped me file the paperwork, but it was more than that. She really cared about what was happening to me and my kids." There were plenty of stories of her wicked sense of humor and the little things she did that made people smile. Eventually, things dwindled down and we returned home around 2pm, I sat down on the couch and promptly fell asleep.... I awoke to the sounds of fireworks as people rang in the new year....and a new chapter in my life begins.
