does anyone know if you will gain xp while playing the Vietnam maps, i though i heard that you didn't while playing onslaught and hoped it wasn't the same for this one

You do.  No XP or wpn kills for Onslaught, but Vietnam will be the same system throughout.  Wpn kills will count and you will continue to get XP to lvl up.

Pin, I gave you that title back in July or so, when you first announced your blowing of guys so hard they should be dead.  Way to be observant.   :laughat:  Still laughing at you.

I guess Gamespot servers are lagging b/c I just couldn't watch too much of that.  It just kept lagging as I watched it, and no other videos are lagging that I watch.  Still, from what I saw, it looked really cool.  New skins, new wpns, and I like the new mini map and the helicopter.

No, but there will be foxholes and other things around the map for setting up ambushes they said.

Well I associate Yahtzee w/ it.  It's a production of Escapist or he is employed by them.  Either way, for you to publish that crap and/or have someone work for you w/ no ability to look at things subjectively is just b.s.

You know the escapist is an online gaming magazine with a number of authors/reporters, right?

Yahtzee only writes/records the Zero Punctuation videos.  This article was written by a "Lisa Gay".

I agree she missed the point of the whole thing, though.

And that is why I hate the escapist.  I'm sure you could say the same thing about COD2 and COD4.  A new skin, new guns.
But it is DLC, so it will be exactly the same game.  But the difference is that you are getting new maps PLUS new skins, new guns, new vehicles.  While other games give DLC that is just new maps, or just new skins.  So yeah, he can f*** off for all I care.  Dumb people shouldn't be taught how to write and put their ideas out there, much less be held to any value.  Why do people even bother w/ his crap he spews?  I know the same could be said for me, but the difference is that I don't write articles about games or even get invited to gaming conferences.  But if I did, I could definitely see why ppl would like a game.  He's really just a COD fanboy b/c I said the same exact thing about COD: MW and COD: W@W.  All they did was change the skins and wpns.  Day late and a dollar short.

Read this from a hands on at the TGS

If you liked Battlefield 1943, you'll probably love Vietnam  because it is essentially the same game with an upgrade and a paint job. If you were hoping for something ground-breaking, you may want to dampen your expectations.

The guy seems to kind of harsh on BF:BC2 a bit so he may be a MW or Halo fanboy...no idea.  Seriously though...what did they expect?  What "groundbreaking" innovation could come from an FPS anyway?

I'm still looking forward to it

There was some confusion surrounding Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, the first expansion to DICE's well-received shooter. Following the initial announcement at E3 2010, EA has resolved the question of distribution -- it'll only be available digitally as Bad Company 2 DLC -- and described more of the features included with the map pack (which has missed inclusion in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition).

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will add four new multiplayer maps, as well as 15 new weapons and six vehicles, all congruous with the new 1960s locale and Bad Company 2's universal experience point system. Among other era-specific items, you'll gain access to the M79 grenade launcher, the Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun, the American Huey helicopter and the Russian T54 tank.

The DLC, which requires the Bad Company 2 game disc, will retain the game's universal experience points and add ten new Achievements and Trophies. Oh, and there's a "rocking 60s soundtrack" composed of 49 tracks (including "Fortunate Son" by CCR and "Ride of the Valkyries") spread over eight in-game radio channels. Like, just dig into a foxhole and listen to the tunes, dude. Why you gotta be so violent?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is on track for a Winter 2010 release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. EA has yet to budge on the issue of price, though we expect it to remain competitive with less elaborate map packs.

Joystiq article

So the video doesn't show much, but it looks like you will have new character models for each class which is cool.  You will get a napalm strike, I'm guessing, instead of the mortars, and that jeep looks cool, but mostly b/c of the music you are able to listen to.  I might just sit on our flag doing doughnuts (and eating them) as I blast some tunes.
This just cannot hit soon enough.  I'm estatic.   :excited:  :BNB:  :righton:  :excited:

Don't know when the TGS is, but I guess maybe next week.  Can't wait to see some videos and what's going to be included in it.  It is still only 4 maps though, so I'm hoping it is just $10, but w/ EA's hand in it, I see it going for $15.

Let's hope they don't consider 4 maps to be:

New map Rush Mode
New map Conquest Mode
New map Team Deathmatch
New map Onslaught

EA has been mum on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam since announcing the multiplayer-only expansion during its E3 press conference three months ago. But Battlefield Community Manager zh1nt0 says that's about to change. "I am going to Tokyo Game Show to showcase Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam for the first time," he said on the studio's Battlefield Blog.

He reiterated the original feature set – "4 brand new maps built in Frostbite, as well as Vietnam specific weapons, vehicles, persistence, unlocks, and achievements/trophies" – and, well, that's about it. We're shipping out to Tokyo next week where we'll rendezvous with the expansion and deliver the intel back here. Still think they're going to hit that "this winter" release window?
