New DLC coming out.  I need to get back into this game, but BFBC2 just keeps me coming back.  Sounds great with a great price too.

2K Games Announces New DLC for BioShock 2 in August
by Eric Bush

New York, NY - July 1, 2010 - 2K Games announced today Protector Trials*, an all-new single-player focused downloadable game add-on for BioShock® 2 that puts players back into the boots of the Big Daddy as he defends his Little Sister against swarms of corrupt Splicers who are hell-bent on stealing the precious ADAM that she gathers from corpses. Available starting August 3, 2010, this exciting and action-packed addition will challenge players to use the full arsenal of the BioShock 2 tool set as they dispatch their foes and unleash their wrath on enemies across six different areas from the single-player experience.
"The team at 2K Marin has been working hard ever since the launch of BioShock 2 to develop ways for gamers to extend their time in the single-player world of Rapture," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "I'm proud to announce the first of these experiences, the Protector Trials, which takes players back to some of their favorite places from the original game and features some of the biggest challenges that fans of this series have ever experienced. This is just the beginning. More single-player content is on the way that will deliver more of the intense action and story-driven gameplay that fans have been craving."

Protector Trials is being developed by the core team behind BioShock 2's single-player experience. It contains a series of challenges focused on frantic combat and fast-paced action that are designed to push players' mastery of weapons and Plasmids. The goal is simple, but tough to achieve: players must keep their Little Sister safe from the intense onslaught of Splicers as she gathers ADAM from corpses.

The pack includes:

•Six new maps: three unique difficulty levels, each based on favorite locales from BioShock 2;
•New unlockables, including never-before-seen concept art and videos;
•Seven new Achievements/Trophies.
Protector Trials will be available starting August 3, 2010 from the Xbox® LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows-LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points, and from the PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system for $4.99.

In the coming months, 2K Games will publish more downloadable content that extends the single-player experience, providing new insight into the world of Rapture. The next package will expand the narrative, and introduce new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed utopia under the sea.

BioShock 2's first two downloadable packages, Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack* and Rapture Metro Pack*, are currently available for download from both the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 from Microsoft and Games for Windows-LIVE, and from the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

Hmm,  I ended up beating it, but it was quite hard.  I still need some achievements, so when I go back to play, I might try that maxing out hypnotize and security trick.  At least I beat it on Hard though.

Even w/ dash though, you still need to have a good team.  Plasmids do run out.  Alot of times I just held the sister in a small room while my team covered me, and if they broke through, I ran for it w/ the dash.  Still, this game is a blast multiplayer.  Hope to see you online Mike, Scott, and Keet.  We will have a blast.

I thought the mp was well done also.  On the capture little sister mode if you have that dash plasmid its pretty easy to swoop in, grab her and make your escape.  I'd be down for some mp.

Aftr, I thought the same thing about the difficulty.  I had a hell of a time having or finding resources until I unlocked tonics that increased loot.  Also, that hypnotize plasmid fully upgraded would allow you to just hang back and have your minions waste everything in your way.  The game got way easy once I had that and security maxed out.

Well when you get it back, I'll play some MP w/ you.  It's a lot of fun, I'm just so addicted to BFBC2.  But it would be a nice change of pace to play this some more.

 :no_teeth:  No I was talking, but that White Heart guy kept talking.  Of course during load screens you really can't talk, and then after one match I saw your mic wasn't plugged in.  You probably had it unplugged and were chatting away, but didn't know.  & you left abruptly.  I guess another kid fell off the roof.   :laugh2:

Now where this game really shines for me is the multiplayer.  What a blast!  Saw Rich playing yesterday so I decided to finally try it out.  You start out w/ pretty much nothing, but you are constantly unlocking new things.  It won't replace BFBC2 for me, but it will definitely be a filler for a long time.  It is a good time, and w/ the new DLC just out that's only $5 (take that Activision), I probably will be playing this for a while to come.

I agree, I like the MP for those reasons as well.

I threw on the headset and tried talking to you in between matches, but you didn't answer....maybe you were getting a donut?   :laugh2:

So I finally got this game.  I guess I'm close to half way through the single player and it just really hasn't grabbed me the way the first one did.  When you were on the plane, and it blew up, and then you were in the middle of the ocean and had to swim to the tower.  Legendary.  It also had a more solid story.  Maybe this one comes together, but the whole Sophia Lamb, just doesn't seem that interesting.  I agree w/ everyone about being so vulnerable.  I'm playing on Hard and it is really, really tough.  The first one on Hard I only had to worry about my eve b/c two plasmids and I was out of eve.  Now it's everything.  I'm running around half the time w/ like 20 rounds for each gun, 1 syringe of eve, no first aid, and like $25.  It's tough.

Ordered this today.  Really hoping to play a ton of BFBC2 and get that out of my system b/c I really want to play mp in this and like it.

the MP is fairly deep and its pretty fun. Play Team Adam Grab matches last 6min tops get a 150 point bonus even if you loose (10pts a kill no matter what mode) and for every 1sec you hold the lil sis you get 3exp also hack and research everything. you get a 15% damage bonus against the enemies that are research. Has in game achievements like MW2 and Blands. The SP is sweet also

The game looks good but it is definitely badly balanced out! You're a Big Daddy but one hit from a splicer and you're dead... That's impossible... I mean I remember playing Bioshock 1 and took me 4 / 5 times to kill a Big Daddy..

The game looks great but I have to agree.  BS2 is a lot tougher than the first one.  The Big Daddy battles are tougher (which is to be expected) but the Splicers cause way too much damage...I barely survived the first time I took a little sister to find some ADAM.

...or maybe it's just me and I'm complaining about getting my butt kicked too easily.

Well you would think if you were a big daddy you would be able to be bad ass and survive a little longer.

Ive been playing a lot of Bioshock 2 and have to say that so far I like it just as much as I loved the first one. Its a great all around game and story thus far. I have to agree though, the lack of backtracking makes it a little difficult, but over all still a great game with awesome game play. The MP is ok from what I have played. Seems a little jumpy or laggy, but that just could have been the people I played with as well. It doesnt really compare all that well to MW2.

My wife gave it to me for Valentines. I really like it so far, but I was a big fan of the 1st one. I played the Mp last night and didnt have any problems but who knows. Civil War is pretty good, and I like that fact that you have a chance to be a Big Daddy during the match, if your fast enough to get to it.

from what I've heard there is only 2 spots in each level where the big daddy suit appears so if you can momorize where they spawn you have a much better chance. The bee swarm is really efective in MP against the daddys it blinds them use with hudini and you can constantly attack them from the back and take 1 out by yourself

Thanks. I am only at level 8 but no big deal. I unlocked the automatic revolver upgrade and it is working nicely with the electro plasmid especially if you charge it up first.

the SP is pertty sweet as well put some hours into it. Every time you get back onto the train is when you advance to the next stage I feel the game does let you know when there is no turning back. Overall its a great game especialy if you liked #1

there is one issue the game freezes in MP pretty regularly, it's happened to me 5 times out of the 6 hours that I played it. there are a lot of complaints on some of forums but other than that the MP is pretty sweet

It happened to me too, about 4 or 5 times earlier tonight. Still fun though. MP is surprisingly pretty good. I thought it would be total crap.

My son just bought it yesterday with some of his b-day money, and said the same thing.  He really likes the MP, but had issues on like 3 of the 5 or 6 games he played.
