I only have 2 1/2 tats right now (1/2, because my shoulder still needs to get finished), and my kids love them all.  But mine are also older than a lot of the other dad's kids here.  All of my kids' friends know about my ink, as well as most of the parents(AFAIK).  Everyone's been real cool about it.  And if they aren't, they're doing very well by keeping it to themselves.  As you can see in my user name avatar, I do have my ears pierced as well (4G now, stopping at 00), and wouldn't mind another pair.  Working on finishing the design for my sleeve, for when I can afford it

If I were worried about what other parents thought, I'd never have done it.  But I don't care.  I got these for me, not for them, nor for their approval.  But our kids are also growing up in an age when all this is becoming more accepted.  Besides, I've never cared what others think of me

Cole loved my tats, and so do his freinds. All his freinds say he has a cool dad. I would not sweat it at all. Tats and piercings are more common now, and those are not what makes the man/dad, taking care of and loving your kids is the most important thing.

Hell, I didn't see you're in Amarillo. Yeah, it's a different breed of Texan up there. But, honestly, I think things will be fine. My BIL has tats like you, and he's looked at funny by the cops, but that's it. He's gone to some of my 8 yo's school functions, and the kids have told my son that his uncle is cool.

It's just how many tattoos I have and where there located. I live out in a rural kinda part of the city..where its really not to common. Alot of old timers and farmers out here haha. It's different to see someone with a few on there arms compared to seeing someone sleeved out from shoulder to knuckle and have them all over his head to some folks.

I'm going to venture a guess and say with the current popularity of various piercings and tats, your kid won't be the only one who's parents are inked and pierced.  My wife and I both have tattoos and she doesn't think twice about them and neither do her friends.

I wouldn't sweat it. Most parents now a days have tats or piercings of some kind. My oldest is dealing with mean kids at school (the ones that'll pick on someone know matter what). I went to school with their parents, and I told my son about it. They were just as mean as their kids are. I tell him to look them dead in the eye and tell them "get bent", then walk away. He loves it because not only does he get the last word in, but he gets to be like his dad was in school and not care about those kinds of people.

i think it's great if you can get your kid to grow up not caring so much about what society thinks about their appearance, better that than them growing up with a complex about not being perfect. If a teacher judges a kid by their parents then the fault is that teachers not yours. I wouldn't worry.

That's how I was raised was to respect everyone no matter what. My pops has tattoos all over..he's 67 so there oldschool and kinda just blurred out now haha , but as I was little I loved them. I dont have anything to distasteful..my left arm is my "bad" arm and my right arm is my "good arm" , with a portraits of Jesus..rosarie on my hand , Saint scripted across my wrist..so you kinda get the theme for that. My head tattoos you really cant see to much with how i have my hair cut. I hope my child becomes interested in it just as I did though..he/she doesnt have to get modifications but learn about the culture and respect it ya know?

Been a long time since I have been on here but thats another story...lol

Your child will not know the difference as long you teach them to respect everyone regardless of looks. My son Andy loves my tattoos....I don't have anything bad or tasteless. Collin is too young to know what the hell is going on...lol but I am sure he will like them too.

The way children respond to your child due to your body mods are gonna be the reflection of the way their parents would treat you. You won't be able to control them or how they view it....just like anything you do.

I commends you on thinking so much about your child but honestly, I don't think there is anything to worry about. I have quite a bit of ink but nothing on my face or forearms. The thought never crossed my mind as to how people are going to treat my children because of my ink.

I wasn't worried about people looking at me different when I got them..I dont regret any of them and I dont care now. But lets face it, kids in school are mean as hell. Not all of them but it happens. I just dont want my child to have to worried about what others think because of me. Maybe I'm just looking into it to much?

let me put it this way were you worried about people looking at you diffrently when you got them? if not dont worry about the kids parents at school. I grew up with the thought that tattoo's were awesome. I love them have one of my daughters name next is my son's and then my peice is going on next. I have my tounge peirced and my ear was gauged and i still have the hole to prove it. I am in the military and dont care what they say and they control my pay. Your baby will make friends no matter what you look like. It will be alright and even later on your gonna be "The cool dad" I know i would wanna hang at someones house and wanna talk to thier dad if he was all Ink and full of holes THATS SICK dude. (in a good way) ps thanks for the thread i wouldnt have thought of it.

So hey hey , I'm new and this is my first topic and I really didnt know where to put it..but what do you think of dad's with body modifications? I have tattoos from my head down to my ankles..besides my face. Also numerous visible facial piercings , but in a tasteful way. I was just wondering and have been wondering since I found out me and my fiancee were gonna have a baby..would this affect my child? I know I'm gonna be the best dad to him/her , and he/she will always know I have more than describable love..but would it make it hard for it in school? People thinking negative about him/her because how I am? What do you all think?
