Picked this one up as soon as I could.  I don't buy Marky Mark in most of his roles, but I thought he did alright in this one.

And I love a good sniper movie (don't want to hijack the thread, but any other recommendations?)

The only other good sniper movie would be Sniper, with Tom Berranger.  I never watched any of the other Sniper films, there's 3 of them, but my friend said they were decent.  Jarhead was a great movie for me, but I'm hesitant to reccommend it b/c so many ppl didn't like it.  My wife and I both loved it, but it might've just been b/c it's about the USMC and follows snipers in that movie as well.  After that I would say the only good sniper shows is the show I saw on the History Channel, Between the Crosshairs.  Was a very good documentary on sniping.   And then you just gotta see war movies.  None really follow snipers alone, just those few.

Great movie!   Nice parable for the Kennedy assassination.

Did this line make anyone else think of Keith?   "Welcome to Tennessee, patriot state of shootin' stuff. "

My biggest problem with the movie was the mountain top scene.  Ok, so I'm supposed to believe in that the baddies arrive via helicopter while the heroes hiked it up there?  Nah, sorry, I don't buy that.

I thought the ending was really good.  They gave you a taste of bitterness in the AG's office before the revenge at the Montana cabin.   Nicely done.

BTW, nice see-through shirt on the soon-to-be girlfriend when he arrived at her house.

I'm in on Shooter. I can easily watch it again.

I liked 2012. Not a great movie but it was good.

thats one reason I chose it. I have watched this movie at least 10 times and I don't watch too many movies more than twice. Lots of action and explosions, a cute girl, and even some plot. If that doesn't say guy movie I don't know what is.

As far as 2012 is concerned, I watched it and liked it. the premise is good. effects were pretty awesome to me. a few inconsistincies and exaggerations but its hollywood. I think its funny right after I watched this movie there ends up being 3 major earthquakes around the world and a few tsunamis. kinda trippy.

Good Choice on Shooter, simple and full of good action, one of those movies I can watch a million times and still sit down and watch again.

Just got 2012 in, but a bit intimidated to watch it b/c it is 2 1/2 hrs.

Stick with Shooter.

We got 1 1/2 hrs into 2012 and gave up. Terrible movie. I wasn't expecting art, I was just in the mood for some mindless fun and cool special effects.

It even failed in that regard.

DPMC monthly movie choice
« Reply #1 on: March 09, 2010, 06:02:06 PM »
In order to get the DPMC up and running again I'm going to set up a monthly movie watch to get people watching again. At the end of the moth we can do the discussions again and I'll pick someone else to choose a movie for April.

This month the movie will be 2007's Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg.

synopsis:
A marksman living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why.
