I saw the concept for Power Gig a little while back. Awesome concept...but probably not going to work out like most everyone that made it hopes. Air drums. I don't really have to say more. This one will fail. Rock Band, as much as I disliked it over GH, will definitely be the real winner of this, as they have more to offer: Real guitar, more realistic drum set, a freaking keyboard for crying out loud, and fixing how well the mic picks things up properly. Not to mention the kick-ass songs that are going to be on it at release. :D

I see this being a big, but VERY pricey, hit this holiday.

I am so sad that RB didn't announce their plans earlier w/ RB3.  There are some great bands on here and some new songs from other bands coming out on Power Gig.  If I wasn't such the drummer, and they hadn't totally shat on the drums for this game (air drums, are you f***ing serious!? w/ a real six-string guitar), I would definitely get this.  Instead, I will just get it later down the line for cheap.  I just wonder if the guitar from RB will work w/ this.  If not, then I'll miss you, but I'm not getting another 6 string guitar just for another music game.  Hope Harmonix picks up these tracks after Power Gig probably fails.

So this game is "Power Gig: Rise of the six string" and what a let down.  The guitar was very cool that you could play a real guitar and hit real chords, but at E3 they showed off the drums.  Effing AIR DRUMS!!!  WTF!!!  I can't believe this.  You put so much dedication to the guitar and then you just sh** on drums.  They should have just used the standard equipment of RB and GH drums.  You can't come close to playing drums or getting the feel unless you have something to hit and get richocet hits.  And RB3 will use real guitars as well, plus have three cymbals incorporated in drums pro mode along w/ double bass.  +1 Harmonix, -1000 Power Gig.

I dropped my 20Gig Hard Drive last year and it F'd up and wouldnt work anymore. I went and bought a new 120 Gig and had to re-download all the songs I had. I have alittle over 400 songs now.

That's what I love about RB, and now w/ the RBN, I have like over 200 songs and the fact that those songs will continue to be accessed w/ each future RB makes it a game for decades to come.

If Rock Band 3 does not have something like this, then I will most likely pick this game up. It would suck to lose all the songs i have for Rock Band.

If they do that, and the game works, I'll probably give up on most mindless FPS type games.  I want a revolutionary game where I can really get some sort of benefit out of the hours I put into it.

And I think that's really what they are shooting for Lawrence.  Not to make this game so difficult, but more of, "Hey, if you master this game, you can unhook it, plug into an amp, play the same chords you played in the game, but this will be an actual song."  It's just an easier way to learn guitar, making it more fun and teaching a real skill.  That's something no video game has ever done.  You can't be good at COD and actually shoot a gun.  You can't play any rythme game and actually be good at guitar or drums or sing.  This will change that completely.  Very promising.

thats crazy. I guess I'd rather spend hours playing a real guitar instead of a guitar with colored buttons on it especialy if the games are trying to be as realistic as possiable. But thats the evolution of games better graphix and more realism push the envelope. Whatever the controler is I'm sure the game is going to be good almost like the game will be a sim

Very interesting.

My son will most likely kill for this. He is great at RB 1&2 and the GH series. He also teaches himself songs on youtube and reads tabs, which is pretty easy, while playing his Schecter guitar. It's amazing that technology is coming so far with video games.

The Next Guitar/Rock Game

Holy Sh*t!!!   :whoa:   :BNB:  But I only just mastered Hard on the fake Guitar.  Thing is, RB3 has been confirmed for Holiday '10 and they say they want to make a "more realistic experience and really teach people how to play real instruments."  So will this be a whole new game, or just a company that makes the axes for the game like Red Octane did for Activision?
