EA thumbing their nose at IW by offering the first batch of maps for free is looking smarter and smarter.

1200 points for maps?  This is still a fun game, but yeah...I can wait for this to go down.

yeah **ck activision. 1200 is too much, when you can buy full arcade games for 800. and the cod4 map pack was 800 for 4 new maps. lame. i'll most likely still get it....but i'm still not going to like the price

The issue for me will be price. I am happy to be able to get Overgrown and Crash. Crash was my favorite map from COD4. I just don't want to have to pay much more than $8 - $10 for 3 new maps and 2 ports. As to the glitches, WAW had a great public beta test yet still got had glitches and was subject to hacks. These are popular games and so they are favorite hacker targets. Too bad some people just aren't satisfied to play by the rules.

That's b/c the original COD4 was a beta.  A REAL beta.  They listened to the ppl playing it and made changes.  Crapyarch just said it was a beta, but really it was a glorified demo.  Everyone was writing them, telling them about the faults, and nothing changed.  They just released the same game.
Sure you will have any game that is as big as MW2 to have an exorbant amount of glitches found and hackers and cheaters, but still, COD4 was much better done and taken care of.  I really feel, and hope, the subscription kills off COD.  But I bet it doesn't.  I bet ppl still pay for internet, pay for LIVE, and then still have no problem paying for COD.  But I really want to see other FPS military shooters take off.  BFBC2 is better.  Medal of Honor and Spec Ops both look promising.  Activision can  :KissMyAss:

I can. I dont even know why i play this F*ing game. There was a whole article in game informer just ripping IW's ass for releasing such a glitchy game, no beta test, and no double xp weekends, and just now god damn map pack im going to pay $10 for that will probably suck giant wiener. and i also read they are going to try to release a new installment every 12-18 months and the new one this year will have an monthly installment fee. F that if I wanted that i would play WOW or start getting a period. this may be my last COD ever. they've taken a great thing and ran it in the ground

the subscription shit idea is activision not IW. I do agree that there should have been a beta, but they have been working on fixing glitches when they are found but that should have been fixed within a beta not after release. its Activions idea to release a COD every year.....that was W@W. I'm going to try and back IW even though i'm out numbered. but as of now IW really is no more...

if COD games are going to start being quick cash ins then i guess i should get better at another MP. hopefully the heart of IW will start a new studio that publishes its own games so we can have good MP w/o the political BS
Cheers, Chase.

I'm sure it will be the model all companies follow.  You can expect a release of about 4-6 maps for $10.  1 or 2 of which will be old COD4 maps.  I can't see them releasing all COD4 maps in a pack since no one has put all classic maps in one map pack.  The only one that comes to mind is Gears of War, and while that map pack is $5 for 5 maps from GOW1, it is free if you bought the game new.  Will IW follow this route maybe to encourage new purchases?  Doubtful.

Personally I think putting COD 4 maps on MW2 is just a cop-out of having to make new maps. Yea I like the maps from COD 4, but if I like them so much, I'd just go play that game. New game should equal all new maps. Just my opinion of course.
couldn't agree more, it is cop out on IW's part. If the COD4 maps are free than fine, but charging for rehashed maps is major BS.
