[Bloodpantha]

Well guys, I'm finally back home after spending days with my family, Pop's funeral was yesterday. The whole of the ceremony was very nice, and it was something that very well suited my father. I'm not trying to turn this into a sadness thread, but this is the poem that I read for him as part of his services.

Unfulfilled Thoughts

Things that I can never say, feelings I can never express,
Promises that I'd only wished to be able to keep,
Looking back I feel as if I lost time, chances for you to see,
The trials, the attempts, the moments of work and progress,
Forward steps that were taken away from your sight,
Hidden within my reclusive nature in the darkest of night,
The thoughts that I wished to share,
The words that I was reluctant to speak,
Ideas to converse and compare,
Help from you I needed which I failed to seek.

My mind races through the opportunites,
The events I could have used to for you to know me,
And to learn more about the person you are too,
I did nothing but let the instances pass through,
Hearing you in my head like an empty room of reverb,
Wanting you back, clinging to the last left of you,
Even just a few phrases, maybe just a point of view,
A whole conversation where I'd listen to your every word,
The desire to just be your loving, attentive son,
A last chance to be together, one on one.

Your words still resound within me, an everlasting echo,
Tracks of lessons you've taught to me, things previously unknown,
These sounds coming from a realm that I am unable to reach,
Reminiscent of the truth that your time is now complete,
Revealing to me a void in myself that will stay barren and empty,
As there is nothing and no one that would be right to occupy,
Left with questions, looking for answers, please tell me why,
How can I be okay with this, how come I will not cry?
A well dried up, pain that won't break me, that is how it seems,
I keep my calm knowing that now your soul was made serene.

All of the thoughts, all of the fears, a confusion that will remain,
Filled with emotions, images and words, yet difficult to explain,
Unable to clear my mind of it, not truly capable of letting go,
Holding close to the moments I had, the time that we did spend,
Those minutes that made us happy, are all now at their end,
The hours have gone and the days are over, but things you still don't know,
The plans I've made that I hoped you would be here to see,
Though I know once I'm done, your presense will be there with me,
The last thing to you I have to say,
Thank you Pop, please be safe along your way.

I actually just wrote this one. It's going to be on the program of my father's funeral as a poem from my family. I'm also working on one that will be directly from me which I'll be reading as part of the ceremony. I just wanted to share this with everyone.

Moment of Solace

Remembering times of happiness,
Moments of jokes and laughter,
Things about you that will be missed,
Your words, your wisdom, you forever after.

Images engraved in our souls, buried in our hearts,
An essence deep within we've known, sewn apart,
Vividly we see you, a vision behind our eyes,
The drifting of your presence, missing your life.

Feeling you leave, finding your place of peace,
Living now among the stars, no longer in grief,
Getting away from a world filled of sorrows,
Making it home where no time is borrowed.

Resolving to solace ourselves as you are missed,
Holding dear to the memories enveloped in bliss,
Even through troubles, problems, and arguments,
Only to see your smile again is what we have wished.

TIGERS DON'T FLY

I'll never fly; above the dreams of ravens, dancing with the clouds below me; across a starlit sky. Tigers don't fly. I have no wings to carry me. 'Cuz flying means freedom. I am bound by responsibility; so much must be done by me. I have my duty. So I'll never fly. 'Cuz there's so much, so much I've gotta do; maybe for you.

So I leave flying to the angels, and birds and dreaming ravens. They can dance on the starry cloud. I can watch, if they let me. My paws will only get me, so far. I'll never fly; among the torches of the stars where only Mother Moon sees my scars. Tigers don't fly. Oh, I'll never fly.

MURAMASA

I looked into her eyes, and saw the glint of bloodlust. Her horrible visage was capable of striking the deepest chords in my heart. I knew, beyound doubt, that entirely against my will, I fell in love with her. "Kill to prove your love!" She commanded me. I could only obey; and after, wearing blood like rouge, she came to my bed, a most desirable whore. It was my friendships I slaughtered as offerings to the demoness. then she demanded more blood. Pieces of my flesh were delicacies at her table; until I scarcely knew myself. Then, when near my death from the blood and tears I shed for her; she was sated, and wanted no more. The cruelest cut: she left me broken and alone.

SALUBRIOUS

Never give an Irishman just cause for revenge."

You robbed me, you murdered me, you raped me. You did all but eat me. Forgiveness? The thought crosses my mind on reflex, and with the same blinding speed is tossed aside. You left me with nothing to live for, and suddenly your punishment becomes worth dying for. Who's to say where justice stands, or how blind she be? I know only that there's a great pit within my soul and it must be fiiled, no matter how bitter the filling be. Your blood would do some, but your tears far more. I yearn to hear despair in your voice, to see you fall to your knees for lack of strength. I shall watch as your soul dies, like mine, and watch as you stumble about, dead man walking, like me. I will be closer to you than a lover, and on the day when you know me as I am known, when I know you as my brother in all things, on that day only, will I finally give you release.

The Life And Death of a Pyromaniac

The flame dances under the darkness,

like a balerina from hell,

he watches in wonder at the short life,

that can magnify a million times fold,

with but a single touch it begins,

reproducing, feeding and he watches this also,

the flame in pure excstasy as it races,

he is now engulfed in the seemingly endless life,

he burns and melts his body incinerating,

his fate at the will of the fire gods,

or possibly satan himself,

He dies slowly, painfully, not uttering a thing,

lifted into a fiery fate of heaven and hell,

Such as the life and death of a pyromaniac.

 

Not all of my poetry is this dark. This one came from my teen angst years where things got very dark for me. But they do get lighter.

"Swallows" bring no babies? That's saying something. Maybe people need to start talking to their ladies.

thanks man. yeah i'm glad i started writing again. i started writing a novella a while back, i may try and find the notebook and begin again haha.

I don't know if that's one that I've heard/read somewhere, or if it just popped into my head. It's one that all should live be, IMO.

Well, this short poem is a haiku, 5-7-5, syllable count. A haiku is a Japanese style poem, but I forgot where the term came from.

Limericks are a type of poetry, are they not?

The have a rhythm, tell a story, and rhyme. so

Evolve
Throughout time we haved learned and grown,
Each mistake bringing us closer to our perfection.
Striving, reaching further with every step,
Creating and manipulating the world with our dreams.
Manifesting our imaginations to the eyes of the earth,
Visionaries having no bounds in our hearts or minds.
Masters of control over our destinies,
Shaping the world to be what we desire of it.
Though acknowledging the fact that we are still meager,
Yet eager to grasp the truth of our existence.
Fearing what lies ahead of us but ever vigilant to see,
That which escapes our finger tips.
Never content with being the same,
But never fully satisfied with the position we gain.
There is only one thing that remains the same with us,
The fact that we must grow strong and evolve.
