Yeah Avoyelles parish is having some real problems, I heard crack is a major problem in Simmesport, I still have a cousin and an uncle that live there, they said if its not tied down in town someone will steal it for crack money.

What is scary is once the cycle of instilling values, respect, etc is broken, you don't get it back. When parents don't teach their kids, who does? and what do they teach them? The author really hits the nail on the head. Good find!

i got the mouth full of soap once,  that ended when i heard dad cuss and i made him put soap in his mouth Rolling laugh

but i remember getting the belt many times and being spanked many times after that, if i acted up in a store, i was taken to the car and had to wait while one parent finished shopping.  in the small town i grew up, it was hard to cause trouble, and if i did, my parents knew about it before i got home (at least it seemed like it at times).   and i was told that if i thought it was so bad at home, usually when i got in trouble so bad that i "threatened" to leave, that i could leave whenever i wanted, but would not be allowed to come back.

and  you know, back then I didnt hear about schools being shot up--although we did have a bomb threat in our school when i was in 8th grade.
