Car hobby became... Power Wheel hobby?
« on: October 18, 2007, 09:37:18 AM »
Playing with real cars can get expensive really fast, and convincing the wife you need a $600 CAI when the stock one "works just fine" becomes a challenge... where else can you turn to get your car modding fix? Power Wheels!

We had 4 Power Wheels cars (if you haven't seen them, they're the battery powered cars kids can ride on).

Anyway, they come stock as 6v or 12v, but with some minor changes, you can bump them up to 12v 18v or even 24v and really get some speed out of them. Also, working headlights, etc. Here are a couple videos of my latest mods... err I mean, my son's latest mods.  :laugh2:

12v to 24v conversion:

Headlights and neon:

Am I the only crazy one on here that mods kids toys?

I did the same thing to my sons's power wheel ninja. I put in a aviation battery and the thing was fast and lasted for ever. A pain to recharge. It would eat up the wheels real fast. Had to keep getting those on ebay. Kid's loved it. Still have that thing siting in storage, just couldn't give it away.

thanks gifted, I would, but my son is almost grown out of his, and my daughter put hers in the ditch two days ago.  Any faster and she probably couldn't handle it.   Plus they run into my car all the time.  :)*

I hear ya. The kids are NOT allowed to drive near where I park my car. If they do it means no power wheels for at least a day. (They're on them pretty much everyday so even a 1 day ban is horrible for them)  :laugh2:

Hard to see but hes in the back ground doing wheelies.

We had to upgrade my daughter to something faster.
