I dont have any demonoid invites until most likely around the first.

PM me your email addy you want sxds.org and iptorrents.com invite sent to and I'll send them this afternoon.

sxds.org is very new and only has about 70 members but is good for so few members, it will only have 500 members when full so will remain small.

I'm looking for bitmetv.org and torrentleech invites if you got any of them :)

also should have bitme.org and oink.me.uk invites sometime in the next month or two lol.. have to make power user on both sites to invite.

Quote
BitTorrent (BT) is a peer-to-peer (P2P) communications protocol for file sharing. The protocol was designed in April 2001, implemented and first released July 2, 2001[1] by programmer Bram Cohen, and is now maintained by BitTorrent, Inc.

BitTorrent is a method of distributing large amounts of data widely without the original distributor incurring the entire costs of hardware, hosting and bandwidth resources. Instead, when data is distributed using the BitTorrent protocol, recipients each supply data to newer recipients, reducing the cost and burden on any given individual source, providing redundancy against system problems, and reducing dependence upon the original distributor.

Usage of the protocol accounts for significant traffic on the Internet, but the precise amount has proven difficult to measure.

There are numerous compatible BitTorrent clients, written in a variety of programming languages, and running on a variety of computing platforms.

How it works animated even:

Quote
In this animation, the colored bars beneath all of the clients represent individual pieces of the file. After the initial pieces transfer from the seed, the pieces are individually transferred from client to client. The original seeder only needs to send out one copy of the file for all the clients to receive a copy.

Okay. I'm new with these torrent things but if I understand correctly, shouldn't I be able to go to these sites and download the torrent?
Title: Re: Private Torrent Sites
Post by: MindBender on May 08, 2007, 01:22:37 AM
most of them require an invite thus the "private" some do have open sign-ups

There are some torrent sites that are open..   But mostly for tv shows and stuff like that..

This is pretty useful

“Tracker Checker” is a nifty little program that automatically checks when private trackers are open for registration. A lot of trackers open their doors occasionally, giving you the opportunity to register without an invite. This program helps you yo find out when.

private tracker alert signup invitesTracker Checker is Windows only and requires the .NET 2.0 framework. It will regularly check the signup pages of the trackers you wish to join and notifies you when one of these is open to newcomers.

The program currently supports 66 private trackers. If your favorite tracker is not in the list you have the option to add it manually in the “trackers.xml” file. The application is spyware and malware free. It does lag a bit when it checks the trackers, and some of the URLs are outdated. My suggestion would be to set the refresh interval to a couple of hours or even more, or just run the program occasionally.

Wonder if the above file could be hosted here at DP?    Just let members d/l it from the downloads section?

I sure it can would have to pack it in a zip if I remember right can't upload just .exe files I'll upload it later today as I'm up way past my bed time and need to sleep. I also got another program to upload as well.

Would you guys prefer the exe's in zip or rar file or does it matter?
Title: Re: Private Torrent Sites
Post by: Keith on May 30, 2007, 09:15:39 AM
zip is probably better as some people don't have a rar program and WinXP does handle zip files on it's own.

and I'm wrong it wasn't an exe I had issue with it was a .msi installer I couldn't upload and I'm uploading it and the other one now...  the 2nd program is pretty cool and the kids might enjoy it as much as we do....  :)

demonoid had open enrollment last Saturday, I would have posted about it here but I found out via phone call and wasn't near an internet connection until that evening. I literally signed up and went to bed (had been up since 3 am and at an all-day competition w/my students)
As soon as I get some invites, I'll post a note here about it

My friend sent me an invite for ipttorrents but the site never opened. I found out that it was restricted in my region. Did some research and found out that VPN might be handy and oh boy sure it was! Read PureVPN Review (https://www.vpnranks.com/purevpn-review/) and I can't be more happier!!!
