The Obameter: Tracking Obama's Campaign Promises
« on: January 16, 2009, 09:00:24 PM »
Obama has made 510 promises during his campaign.  More then Bush and Clinton combined.  Folow his progress keeping them here:

Obameter

He's already kept 2 of them

It is interesting, and something I've wondered about for the last 4 or so presidents (since I've been old enough to pay attention).  I've always wondered if there was anyone keeping track of the promises versus results.
What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about??

Nice, I know there is some crap that he has already backed off on.

Like Number 2. on the list, he's already said that he will not mess with the oil companies anymore, now that they are not experiencing "windfall profits"  yet this one doesn't seem to be marked.  Not that I mind, as I work in the oil industry, and was thinking he was going to be hard pressed getting that little promise passed anyway.

and

Promise #433, which oddly is linked to #59, where he will reduce the cost of Insurence by $2,500.  In several statement these two "promises were linked"

Quote
Obama (Bristol, Va., June 5): In an Obama administration, we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year. And we’ll do it by investing in disease prevention, not just disease management; by investing in a paperless health care system to reduce administrative costs; and by covering every single American and making sure that they can take their health care with them if they lose their job. ... And we won’t do all this twenty years from now, or ten years from now. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as president of the United States.[/quote]

According to Independent study group Rand this will not likely be achievable untill 2019.  But I guess we have 4 years to wait to find out he lied about this too.

While I don't think our country will be ruined by this man, it won't in my opinion prosper either, I am predicting a relative stagnant 4 years, untill the next election and he is replaced.

I have to admit, not a bad record so far. 7 kept so far, with only 2 broken. Too bad that one's a biggy.

People who think they know it all really annoy those of us that do.

LMAO!  Promise broken:
No. 234: Allow five days of public comment before signing bills

To reduce bills rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them, Obama "will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.

That one was rushed through before Congress could review it!

it will be interesting to see where he stands after 4 years... and if he can complete all of this before he attempts reelection.  He will most likely use this in his bid for reelection, to show that he has made progress... only time will tell.

Depending on how much progress he has made and how much people agree or disagree with his promises.

YES but, with the -200 million people loosing their jobs that ends up being a positive! Lemmie explain,
if 300 million people loose 500 million jobs then we have a job loss of -200 million! so it's like were "saving" 200 million jobs!!! Praise his holiness The mighty Obama!
