Huh??  Put out a bunch of nonsense, then flatter and compliment your opponent, and then state that what we have right now w/ Medicare and Medicade is all you are trying to do, and yet we already have it.   :hairpull:

I just love how he brought up the USPS. FED EX and UPS are better than the USPS. Isn't the USPS gov't run and falling apart. Sure it's because of email, and the internet but what happens when they don't make enough money. They raise the prices of 1st class mail.
So what will happen with public health care. Someone will be footing the bill for it. Surely not the ones that use it.

Another thing to remember is that Fed Ex and UPS cannot deliver first class mail and cannot put things in your mailbox so they are not direct competitors.

careful guys, anything that might be construed as leftest will be immediately shot down, pissed on and buried here...

i see you shaolin, and i enjoy reading your posts

this system is broken. seriously. yes, maybe obama is talking out of his ass somewhat, offering half baked plans that have a beginning with no end. kind of like the bush wars. and bailouts. and reduction of social programs. but i haven't heard anything better coming from the rest of congress... so until they come up with a solution, i'm leaning towards a "socialist" /sarcasm/ approach. hell, i already pay for others and don't get anything now... i cant even get coverage b/c of my pre-existing condition (diabetes). i'm only covered for life-threatening illness/injury. and this is after i pay over $700 a month with a $2,500 deductible, with me paging 60% after the deductible is reached.

Other ideas are out there they just aren't brought up.  Look into House Resolution 3400.  I am not saying it is better or worse.  I havent looked too much into it but other options are out there.

In the quote above Obama is doing more than talking out of his ass somewhat.  He is flat out lying and trying to confuse people.  The truthful answer to the question is that a private company cannot compete against an entity with an unlimited budget and who gets to set the market place rules.  Can't everyone at least admit that?

Tell me again, why I'm supposed to give a hoot about competition when it comes to health care? The private sector competes to make money, not to provide care. That's alright, I understand that. But if my concern is the concrete provision of care, not devotion to the Market Fairy (and what she'll grace us with if we'd only let her), why should I prefer the private supplier to the public one?

Competition allows for choice, drives down costs and encourages innovation, are there some problems with it yes but nothing is perfect.

What is this Free Market Fairy?   Is this something Mommy Government tells you about as she tucks you in and kisses your boo-boos?
Is Mommy Government going to take care of all your problems and make sure all is good and right in this world?

well, private insurances that set the market rates, deny coverage if they feel like it and only offer BAD choices aren't really viable choices IMO...

Maybe I'll get fried for this but I have a question.  I'm not defending insurance companies and I do think we need to getthe costs down so more people can afford it.  But when did making a profit become such an evil thing?  Any of us that owns a business wants to make a profit right?  We want the companies that we work for to make a profit right?  Company makes a profit maybe we get a raise and a bonus.  So why is it that the insurance companies are not allowed to?  (again not defending insurance companies) If Obama wants to compete with them let him offer a government run alternative that's cheaper and compete with the big boys.  He talked about UPS/FEDEX and the post office.  Why is the post office failing?  Apparently they aren't competing.  If the government can do it better, let me CHOOSE to use them and pay for them.  Let them make a profit even and put the money towards better health care.  Why does it always have to be the money for it has to come from my pocket?  If the government offers a cheaper alternative that is better then more people can be covered and if it is better and cheaper I will choose it.

i would be all for a government run health care system that wasn't funded by tax payers.  Let the government truly compete by playing by the same rules as private insurers and see how well they can do in the system they created.

I agree w/ that.  I hate the current system b/c it seems they are getting too much of a profit, but like Todd said.  Gov't won't compete.  They will just offer the best deal and then make up for the loss by raising taxes to cover the loss and then some.  So if you don't like the gov't health care and choose not to use it, you will have to pay for your own (probably better health care), plus everyone else's health care w/ your taxes.   :banghead:
