New member of the family.
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:09:51 PM »
Meet Joey, the 12 week old male kitten that my daughter got for her birthday yesterday.  (Her actual birthday is the 30th, but we have to have 2 birthday parties.  One for Grandma and one for Grandpa.)  My daughter is so afraid to get scratched she won't walk by it.  lol

LOL  Cute cat!

So this is why you haven't been on The West in awhile.   LOL

I'm sure she will warm up to the cat in no time.

To help her get over the fear, they make a claw cover that is applied by a little dab of superglue (supplied with the covers). They last for a while, but the fun part is putting them on. Most vets around here offer them as an alternative to declawing.

People who think they know it all really annoy those of us that do.

Yeah sorry Kieth.  I've been busy the past couple of days.

Scott.  I saw those in PetSmart and thought about them, but wasn't sure how they would work.  I really don't want to declaw the cat.  It seems cruel.  (they just yank the claws right out of the cat... ouchie!)  We had to get some flea stuff.  Next time we go maybe we'll pick up those claw covers.

A buddy of mine was telling me that you put a drop of the glue in it, and slip it on the claw. I'm not a cat person, so I say just rip the damn things out. LOL

Ain't jbpdvm a vet?

Well Autumn is getting more used to the kitty now.  But apparently Mom isn't she just shut the cat in the door.  She should know by now the cat loves to "look" outside.  Kitty has a bloody paw.  I think he'll be alright though.  But she went crying, Autumn went crying, and tried not to get angry. :gaah:
