You know, regardless of all the bad publicity the PS3 has been garnering as of late, I'm still gonna get one.  I've stuck by Sony since jump and I haven't lost faith in them.  Of course that's not to say that I'm gonna abandon my 360.  As a gamer it's all about the games regardless of the system and for me MGS4 is a "must have."

This sucks for PS3 fans.  Good luck finding one before Fall 2007.

This is typical Sony. Ever since the conception of the PS3 they've been caught in lie after lie. Sony promises the moon & stars, but delivers a rock & a flashlight.  I gave up on this company shortly after the original Xbox came out. When the PS2 came out, I was one of the few proud owners (remember the shortages?).  I had to replace it 3 times in 3 years for the same type of problem, disk drive errors. I finally gave up on them and bought no more. Heck, even after they redesigned the PS2 (slimmed down & new disk drive design) they still couldn't get it right. Did you hear about the power packs that were recalled after they were melting people's carpet and catching on fire?
The Xbox is a different story. I bought 2 of them almost 5 years ago and haven't had one problem out of either one of them! This was one of the main factors for me in deciding between the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
One last thing to chew on. The Xbox 360 has proven technology and people were complaining of the defective rate of units. Next we have the PS3  coming out with new technologies (Cell processors, Blu-Ray) and cramming them together in there "George Foreman Grill" looking box. Now, what kind of defective rate do you think these babies are gonna have! You better buy 2 and keep one for a spare.  :laugh2:

PS3 Won't upscale to 1080i

The article on ps3.ign.com states:
"As it turns out, gamers who own older HD sets that feature only 480i, 480p, and 1080i resolution input capabilities will have to settle for the display quality being downsized as the game boots in its 480p mode rather than upscaling the image from its more desirable 720p mode to the TV's 1080i. We tested this development on older HDTV sets with games designed for 720p but not 1080i -- Resistance: Fall of Man, NHL 2K7, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and Need for Speed Carbon. Sure enough, the system downshifted all four titles to 480p rather than moving up to 1080i."

Here's a review from Game Informer. The guy doesn't seem all that thrilled with it.

Ever system has bugs when it first comes out..   but the PS3 does seem to have more than usual.   Hopefully they will get them worked out..

Linux launches for PS3 Kind of a cool feature, but without protection I have a feeling some idiot is going to screw around with the PS3's. I can see the headline now, "Xbox 360 virus attacks the PS3".
