Dead Space prequel novel announced
« on: April 13, 2010, 05:26:11 PM »
Acclaimed writer B. K. Evenson delves into the history of the Church of Unitology and the origin of the mysterious "Black Marker" in Dead Space: Martyr, a prequel to Visceral Games' sci-fi horror spectacular.

Dead Space and its Nintendo Wii prequel, Dead Space: Extraction, left far too many questions unanswered, and those questions and more will be answered this July in Dead Space: Martyr. Martyr explores the story of geophysicist Michael Altman, the man who discovered the Black Marker and set events in motion that would eventually lead us to the adventures of Isaac Clarke, 200 years later.

The novel is penned by B. K. Evenson, the author of Last Days and The Open Curtain.

"One of the most compelling storytelling aspects of Dead Space has been the Church of Unitology: its origins, power, and role in Dead Space," says Tor editor, Eric Raab. "Writer B.K. Evenson gets into the terrifying aspects of mob mentality like no other writer today. This isn't only a great story within the Dead Space universe; it's a great novel on its own."

I'm already getting chills just thinking about it. Dead Space: Martyr will hit book stores this July for $14.99. Note that the cover art, while lovely, has not yet been finalized.

I like the Dead Space story and universe.  Can't wait for this to explain how it all started.  Should be pretty good.
