Income source for SAHD???
« on: July 23, 2010, 04:20:53 PM »
I'm just curious what some of you stay at home dads do for income?  Does the wife bring home all the bread?  It's a lifestyle change that I'm thinking about, but would still need to generate some sort of income.

Depending on how much income you want to make, lots of Survey places are good. http://www.pineconeresearch.com/

you don't get alot but a few bucks here or there, or a gift card to a store or restaurant you frequent can be handy.

I'm about to get into a business where you work from home...go to a few meetings here and there to better your knowledge of the company and the products they offer. My old boss introduced me to it and he's been doing it for 3 months and is bringing in $500 a month so far and it will increase as he gets more customers. I can give those interested more info once I get started.

I can definitely do that. The more people I get interested, the better it is for everyone

Stumbled across this site - http://www.taskrabbit.com/

Essentially run errands for those that don't have time for a negotiated fee.  I know it's tough to run errands with kids, but depending on what the requester wants, seems somewhat viable and a decent excuse to get paid while you run your own errands (theoretically).

It's an option, I suppose.

My wife is a Nurse Prac. I no longer work during the day at all and do not have a regular grind.  I do however, play as a musician and a promoter from time to time plus a little ebay buying and selling.

I'm good at baking chocolate and peanut cookies so I use my skill to bake and sell them to the neighborhood. My wife delivers some to her co-workers who order cookies from her. It's not much but at least I contribute my part financially.

Sometimes I use Mturk to make a little extra money. It is not great work but the good companies to take task from are Photomod, Casting Words and Deloras Labs. It is nice to make a little money to use for buying my wife surprises and birthday gifts and what not. Mturk is run by Amazon and is basically a work force.

eBay ...

Things I've done on eBay mostly successfully ---

1) Go to garage sales, rummage sales, dollar stores --- and, buy stuff at the discounted price.
2) Place on eBay with a minimum sale price, and let the bidding begin

For a year's effort, I've made as low as $500 ... but, I've also had a year of > $10,000

I know people that make an entire living this way.  It just works.  I don't understand it either, but people like buying junk you wouldn't otherwise give your mother-in-law.

I'm not a stay-at-home dad but with the growth of the online community, there are several money-making sites that SAHD dads can try. While the kids are napping or having classes, dad can squeeze in some time and do data entry, affiliate marketing or writing jobs...I think somebody mentioned Mturk. There are a couple of micro tasks sites like Mturk. The pay is not much but you can earn few dollars each month for a few hours of work.

I'm working full time right now but I also work for an online company called Leapforce to kind of supplement my income. It pays more than my regular job and I've been kind of feeling it out to see if I can just do that full time. I've found it to be legit so I may actually do that, which would be awesome. Basically what you do is rate websites. I think the company itself works for Google. But it's all done from home. You just have to go to their website and apply like a regular job and if they pick you, you have to take an exam, which they give you the study material for, and it's pretty easy. You get paid a very decent hourly wage and they send you a paycheck once a month. And there's no set amount of hours you have to do. It can be done full time, or just a few hours throughout the month. It's a pretty good deal.
