Fish oil supplements
« on: November 08, 2010, 07:45:58 PM »
I've recently read a lot of information about the supposed benefits of taking omega-3 fish oil supplements. The one benefit that intrigued me is it's ability to cut down on inflammation hence improving your recovery time.

I had been nursing a sore shoulder since the mid summer and it was seriously becoming a nag. So about three weeks ago I decided to order this particular brand that was recommended by CrossFit Endurance. It's a bit pricey but is supposed to be of the highest quality and the amount of omega-3 is much higher than others that you'd find at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC.

I received my shipment and within 3 days of beginning to take it the pain was completely gone. Prior to that I had been trying rest, ice, ibuprofen but nothing seemed to work. General soreness after workouts has been significantly reduced as well. I'm totally blown away by how well this stuff works. I bought the tangerine flavor, it has a mild taste, with no fish taste whatsoever.

Good to hear it.  I tried both pills and oil 2 years ago and neither agreed with my system.  There is some really strong data out there showing that fish oil supplements do great things for your body.

That's so funny I was just looking into the very same stuff today there was a video about it on the CrossFit Endurance site, I'm going to have to get me some.

I've been taking it daily for probably a year.  Figured I was running so much it has to help.  I think it has.  I was actually surprised how quickly I recovered from my 20 mile run this weekend.  I was stiff and sore right after it but by mid afternoon I was OK.  Sunday I had no soreness at all.  Not sure if it's the fish oil or just my training but I assume it is a bit of both

looks like i may be ordering some of this also.  It would be really great to run and pain free and recover faster.  My question though, how important is it to keep it in a fridge after opening.  I do not have one in Iraq, and would have to find other was to keep it cool

would that be the Power Gym brand? I was just at Wal-Mart and picked some up the stuff Bob ordered is just a little out of reach right now.

The liquid that I ordered does need to be refrigerated after opening.

So I checked out the bottle.  It's from a maker called Spring Valley.  I got them either at Wal-Mart or BJ's.  -
Omega 3 Fish oil
1000mg soft gels

Forgot I also take (from the same maker)
Glucosamine Chondroitin Plus MSN
for joint health
