Shadow Disney Half Marathon
« on: December 10, 2010, 07:03:21 AM »
OK, so i have signed up for my last long run while in Iraq.  On January 8th, we will be having a Shadow Disney Half Marathon here, and i have just signed up for it.  THere will be a simultaneous start and live video broadcast with the race in Orlando.  First 600 finishers will recieve the official tech shirts and medals.  I can not wait for this run as i will not have to wake up early for it (starts early afternoon).  Hopefully i can pace myself better for this one, then last.  Hopefully i will be able to maintain an 8-8:30 pace.

thanks, should hopefully PR it.  PR right now stands at 1:54, shooting for about 1:45-1:48

alright, so tomorrow is the big day.  Lets see how well i can do.  i am going to try to maintain an 8:15-8:30 pace which should put me under my PR.  The race is simulcast with the race in Orlando, and we will even be having Al Roker do a call out to us.  All in all it should be a good run, and help me towards my goal for 2011 of setting a new PR in each Race Distance (5K, 10K, Army Ten Miler, 1/2 Marathon) and hopefully have me ready for my first Marathon this year.  Of course i am registered for at least one more 1/2 this year (Dallas 13.1 in Nov).

thanks guys.  It ended up being a great run.  My goals were met.  The route was long (13.54 miles) but i managed to meet or exceed the goals of the run.  I ended up with 1:45:51 at the 13.1 mile mark, and 1:49:19 at the finish line.  Going into it, i had wanted to do between 1:45 and 1:50, so all is good.  Ended up taking 9 minutes off of my old PR, and all with little running prep, and mainly just CF since the last half Marathon in Apr 2010.  Now, to actually train for ATM in Oct, the half that i am scheduled for in Nov, and the full that i am thinking of doing in Dec.
