The time has come.
« on: February 01, 2011, 08:10:00 AM »
It looks like I am gonna have to take my dog to the vet this morning to be put to sleep.   She is around 15 years old.  She is part chow and part I don't know.   She has been with me along time.

I know she is old and it's been hard on her getting around, but over the last couple of days she hasn't been able to hold her pee.  This morning when we woke up we watched her.  She has been falling all over the place, she can barely walk.  So I know it is now time.   She has been too good to me for me to let her go on this way.

This is so hard on me, she is like my first born child.   I know some of you guys may not feel that way about animals, but I do.  I love that dog so much!!

I'm gonna take her to the vet and have him look at her, but I already know what's going to happen.  So think of me guys.  Please say a prayer or thought for me, I am gonna need all the help I can.

Thanks everyone!

I'm so sorry to hear that Keith.  I've had to put down a fair number of pets.  It sucks.  It never gets easy. You will always have her memory and in time the pain will ease.  Good luck today and keep a brave face on for the sake of the kids.

good luck Keith.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  It is always sad to see a pet go.

Yeah, I've been there a few times and it sucks. You want to do all you can to help them after all the joy they've given you and their unending loyalty, but you feel completely helpless. I always tell myself the same thing: at least they won't be in pain anymore. So damn hard to say goodbye to an old friend.

Good luck Keith. I'll be thinking of you guys today.

Thank you guys!

We took her to the vet earlier today and they put her to sleep.   I brought her home and buried her.

The house is so different without her here.   (I'm sorry guys, I'm very emotional over this.)

Here is a cute picture we took of her a few years ago.   (She never liked cameras.)

I'm sorry to hear this Keith.  Knowing that you've done what is best for her doesn't make things easier today but in the long run it will.  At least you will always have the memories of your wonderful companion.   Once again, not much comfort today but I'm not sure that there is anything that would comfort you.

Sorry for your loss Keith. Their definitely a part of the family and it's just like losing a human family member. Just know she's at peace and yes it'll take time but your heart will grow strong again. I've been there many times myself and it doesn't get easier by any means.
God Bless

Thanks again guys.   I keep telling myself she was just a dog.  But, she was more than that.   I guess I keep saying that to try and down play how bad I feel.

Everyone in the family misses her, even the cat.   :)     It's amazing how one dog can make the house so lonely even when the whole family is here.

Thanks again guys.   I am blessed to have you all as my friends.
