Freeware Powerpoint-type Program
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:51:37 PM »
I am looking for an easy to use Powerpoint type program for an upcoming presentation.  It doesn't have to be able to read Powerpoint files.  I have seen a program from OpenOffice, but had trouble actually finding the link to download.  Anyone know anything off hand?
Thanks

I think open office is sort of a package deal - you get everything, including the powerpoint alternative.

There's also IBM Lotus Symphony

There's an online app by Zoho called "Show".  Not sure how limited it is.

I stopped using Open Office late last year in favor of LibreOffice.  It seems that since being taken over by Sun, there was a feeling in the development community that the package wasn't being updated often enough.  That has lead to a group of developers leaving the project and creating a fork off of the development that is now called LibreOffice.

For more back story, you can read about it here: http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/Blogs/Off-the-Beat-Bruce-Byfield-s-Blog/The-Cold-War-Between-OpenOffice.org-and-LibreOffice

Thanks for the responses.   I'm now the wife's computer hero!
