Protein Bars
« on: May 14, 2011, 07:31:24 PM »
Hey guys -

I have come to the conclusion that I just cannot eat breakfast unless it's 1-2 hours after I wake up.  No appetite no matter how routine the schedule is (even for 3 weeks or more at a time), nothing.

On top of this, I want to find a good protein bar/brand that the (almost 9 year old) kid will eat (read: Like) before her games or during tournaments where running on a full belly isn't going to be a good option.  For her, I'm thinking more a supplement than a meal replacement, though for a growing child, I'm not as concerned about calorie count.

I'm looking for 25-35 grams of protein in a bar.  Taste is obviously a factor.  Is there a protein bar or brand you'd recommend that isn't going to punch a hole in my wallet?  Any sites you'd recommend for discounts in bulk or free shipping?

Thanks in advance

Edit to add: I've tried Clif Builder's Protein (20g), Everlast Hyperplex (30g) and Premier Nutrition Titan (26g).  All have been good and Clif is relatively cheap.  The other two seemed high in calorie (over 300), but I don't know what's "normal" for these things.

I don't buy protein bars Keet, but I wanted to chime in and tell you that I am exactly like you in the breakfast department.  I can't eat in the morning.  I'm not hungry at all and if I do eat it kinda makes me sick.

I use gold standard powder and I think their bars are supposed to be good. Lot of their stuff is on Amazon's subscribe and save. I also like EAS nutrition bars. But unless you get a wpi drink you're going to run into higher kcals.

And also, a decent meal replacement I enjoy is the Big 100. Slimfast bars pale in comparison.

While in Iraq, I was eating Snickers Marathon Bars and Power Bars as meal supplements. I don't remember the nutritional facts but I know that the Snickers' were very tasty!
