2011 TriState Tough Mudder
« on: November 14, 2011, 11:18:42 AM »
My wife and I did this with a group of 12 people at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ yesterday. This 12 mi military-style obstacle course was the most fun I've had in quite some time. We finished as a team (which is the point instead of individual stats) in 4 hours overcoming some pretty crazy obstacles.

The intense training (Crossfit) we've been doing for the past 1.5 yrs adequately prepared us for the event and probably allowed us to enjoy the day more than I thought possible. We all felt like kids again rolling through the mud climbing over 12ft walls and jumping off the 20ft platform into icy cold water. Helping others get through obstacles that they didn't think was possible was probably the best part of the day.

The electroshock therapy obstacle at the end, where we got zapped by 10,000 volts  kind of definitely sucked. I actually momentarily blacked out a few times after taking some zaps to the noggin.

I attached our before and after photos.

And here are some photos of the insanity from TM's Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150459010177790.418950.121520047789&type=3

If some of you runners are looking for a good challenge, give Tough Mudder a look.

And Randy, we're going to be doing the one at Bear Creek, PA next year and a spot on the roster could be yours. Just say the word.

Thanks. Yeah, it was like a 1 second blackout. I started making my way over a hay bale and the next thing I knew I was back on the ground where I started. I was like WTF?! Then it happened 2 more times.

The body is at 100%.

That's a bit scary!
Glad to hear you are 100%!  My achilles are almost back to 100%.  I had strained a tendon in my heel.  Had a cortisone shot last week since we went to Disney last week and I knew I'd be walking a lot.  It helped a lot but today I feel it a little.  Guess I walked too much

I was having some "hotness" in my achilles until I started doing this work. Good stuff! Starrett is a mobility rock-star and his methods will help keep you pain free.
