best things I did after moving out
« on: December 02, 2011, 04:58:36 PM »
So I saw there is also a gamer forum here :)
Kids had been bugging me to get them Xbox live and held off until I found out I was moving out.
Then got them it, got me it, and played most nights with them when they weren't with me.
Helped me no end chatting with them, find out how there doing etc, without using the phone which they never like talking on, always rather would be doing something else. I dont think the ex ever realized I was chatting with them every night :) ha ha
Anyway, if you dont play and your kids do its worth looking into as its actually blast!
I also set up a website to help clueless folk like me with the games etc.
check it out MentorsForXbox.com

Hey man.   I checked out your website and I like it.   I'm planning on signing up there shortly.

That is a great idea about playing xbox and getting to talk to your kids!

I have custody of my 2 boys from a previous marriage and when they go visit their mom I do occasionally play with them online.

Welcome to Daddyplace!   I hope you like the site and spend some time here.   It's great to have you here.

That's pretty cool. Luckily I am not in a situation that needs that, but it's still good to know. I do have an XBox, which is my other kid. Don't tell my wife I said that. LoL

Thanks Keith and all.
The kids worry about you as you do them and it was great to keep in touch with them that way.

I also learned a bunch more about them as they were directing old farts like me in halo matches and teaching and helping me along the way. Totally different dynamic than I had experienced before with them as it became role reversals etc and in a good way.  :)*

Reading some of the threads makes me want to use this icon  :hairpull::rollinglaugh:
I couldnt find any dad support websites when I was searching before.....

I keep in touch with my nephew this way.  He's been determined to get good enough at CoD to have a higher k/d ratio than me in a single match.  He hasn't managed it so far, but he's been getting better, so we'll see.

And now you have!   We are here for each other when a dad needs us and in between that we talk about news and everyday stuff.   This is more like a bar where guys go and chat.   LOL

Somehow, thinking about your site reminds me of this new show on TV this year called "Man Up!".  It usually starts with these older guys playing on xbox and when the show goes off it usually shows them playing as well.    LOL  It cracks me up because it reminds me of, well.....me.     I even asked my wife if that is what I look like when I play and she started laughing and said yes!   LOL
