On Jan. 24th, the Senate is expected to pass a bill for the first ever U.S. internet censorship system. While the Senate is holding town halls and meetings at home, they need to hear why they need to block the vote and kill this bill.

I have been reading about this and I thought that I may do the protest here.   However I haven't figured out how to do the "black" page.   LOL

It's just not that simple adding the code to this type of site, Paul.   I am trying to find other ways to do it, but I'm running out of time.    I have some appointments this morning that I have to go to plus get the kids to school.  But I am looking.

The taking down of websites, is kabuki theater. The only thing congress understands is money in their coffers.

Honestly, if those bills were passed, then sites like DP would also be subject to going offline. Just simply because we share so much stuff that we find interesting on the net. Whether it fell into their regulations or not, it would be difficult to keep up with everything they want. Life as we know it now would cease.
Below is actually a sprite edit of Zero from the Megaman X series from Megaman X4 and beyond. The character I'm creating through the edit is called "Heat".

I let my representatives know that I am a filmmaker and although I appreciate their efforts to protect my work, these bills would not do it.  Then I went on to say that these bills would cause me to shelve several projects that could potentially bring millions of dollars to our state.  Money talks and hopefully the potential of lost revenue from someone the bill is supposed to be protecting will make them pause and think.

Of course, I haven't personally donated a dime to any of them so I'll probably get the same generic response of "I understand what you are saying but I really don't care" that I always get.

Here's something funny I found in the wikipedia link for SOPA:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Users uploading illegal content
Lateef Mtima, director of the Institute for Intellectual Property and Social Justice at Howard University School of Law, expressed concern that users who upload copyrighted content to sites could potentially be held criminally liable themselves, saying, "Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of the bill is that the conduct it would criminalize is so poorly defined. While on its face the bill seems to attempt to distinguish between commercial and non-commercial conduct, purportedly criminalizing the former and permitting the latter, in actuality the bill not only fails to accomplish this but, because of its lack of concrete definitions, it potentially criminalizes conduct that is currently permitted under the law."[55]
An aide to Rep. Smith said, "This bill does not make it a felony for a person to post a video on YouTube of their children singing to a copyrighted song. The bill specifically targets websites dedicated to illegal or infringing activity. Sites that host user content—like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter—have nothing to be concerned about under this legislation."[55]
In January 2012, bloggers claimed that Smith's own website had apparently used a copyright protected image without attributing it to the photographer who took it, with Time noting, "It doesn’t seem like a huge violation, but that’s the point; if SOPA passes, who knows how minor infractions like this will be handled."[56][57]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Isn't that Ironic? I mean, you have to see where this could create a potential problem for everyone.

On Twitter, someone mentioned: Under SOPA, if you upload a single Michael Jackson song, you could be sentenced to 5 years in prison.  That's one more than the doctor who killed him got.
