Friday Get Fit Check In (REVIVAL)
« on: June 04, 2012, 09:52:08 AM »
Ok guys, we have not update this in forever, and personally i myself have fallen off the wagon a little bit.  So in an attempt to hold my self accountable, and hope to spark more of the dads to get out and exercise, i am going to try and revive this string of threads.

@ Keith or Mitch: Is it possible to add this as a category like we have GYM and RUNNING so we can find these easier, and have them all group together.

What we used to do is at the end of each week (on Fridays) we would create a thread to show a summary what workouts we did that week.  Personally i like my week ending on Sunday and not Friday, and would be up to posting on Sundays as opposed to Friday, but whatever the consensus is.An example post looked like this:

CF: 4 days straightt
Run: 12 miles (run week ends on Sunday, so i still have a 9 mile run left tomorrow for this week)
Walk: 13 miles around base to get to and from work and meals
Pull-up improvement: Days 1 and 2 of week 1 (Program is 7 weeks total)

We can.   I just want to make sure that it would be busy.  Too many boards around the site have just been underused.    Do you think that it will be used quite a bit?

@keith, before we make the change, let's do a trial run to see how it goes... Keep them where they are, and after a month or two lets look at it.

That sounds good Keith.   Just let me know and remind me.  My mind is on so many different things right now, sometimes I forget to even eat.   :)

OK week 2 -

ran a total of 20 miles since last saturday
Did Cross fit workouts on wednesday night
Tuesday and Thursday I had Taekwondo, these to classes were kick ass as usual.  Sparred for the first time on Tuesday.  I was by far the lowest rank there but I think I held my own.  Pretty much it was me and a bunch of black belts.  Sparring is exhausting

i was just ogling on to start this week and you beat me to it.

This week has been light for me as i was preparing for my semi annual Army Physical Fitness Test.  That is pretty much all i did.  However, i did very well for the amount of effort i have been giving it lately.

I did 61 Pushups in 2 minutes, 78 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and ran my 2 miles in 12:45.  Based on these scores and my age, i scored a total of 286 out of 300 possible points, 20 points better than my last test in December.

Aside from this, i am officially starting my CF / ATM training tomorrow.  It helps that my family is out of town for 2 weeks so that makes it a little easier to start, however will have to take a week break next week while i am in the field.
Off to make my medicine ball.

Do wee want to start a new thread each week like we did in the past, or keep ten all on one.
