All of my friends and their families that live on the East Coast have been in my prayers.

Have we heard any word from anyone as to how everyone is fairing?

I've seen Randy on facebook, so I know things are alright there for the most part, other than the devastation happening near him and the power failing.

Anyone else? Pat have you heard from family yet?

Hey guys! We are doing OK.  Have power now.  We actually had power thru the storm.  lost it for an hour then it came back on.  Never want that again.  The sound was pretty scary.  Like a train running through my yard.  So we woke the next morning, with power and no house damage.  1 tree completely uprooted which took out a second tree.  luckily they fell away from the house.  Probably 2-3 that cracked halfway up and are hanging on the trees around it.  Was out on my back covered deck when one went next to it.  Pretty loud crack.  Was waiting for the crash on the house.  So we survived that and not a drop of water in my basement which had a foot and a half after Irene.  My family all had no power so we invited them all over for dinner and showers and laundry.  Had a house full of people when the power went out about 3PM.  Turns out the power company shut it off on purpose to do repairs.  When they shut it down I lost my cell signal also.  Must have shut the tower down.Got it back on last night.  No cable which means no phone, cable or internet.  Got my cell reception back when the power came back.

Besides no power for a lot the issue is now gas.  The gas stations either have no power or no gas..  If they have both the lines are incredible. Sat on a gas line for an hour today.  Yesterday I drove up to work.  Just about got there when the boss called to tell me no power.   Had the kids with me.  Turned around to go home.  Tank was almost empty.  Boss then sent me a message that said there was a gas station open in the town near me and he was there.  The line at it was too long.  Didnít have enough gas to sit there.  There were also lines of people with gas cans waiting. Found another station with smaller lines, got in line and some lady started to bitch about there being 2 lines.  She must have called the cops.  Cop showed up, she left and gave us a smirk as she drove off.  The station manager blocked the entrance I was in with a car.  I was literally the next in line to get gas.  Told me to get at the end of the other line.  I would have run out of gas.  I drove home and took my truck to my wife's work.  The station by us was open when we went home so I got in the car (after pouring 2 gallons from a can into the car).  Got there and the guy said there was at least a 2 hour wait the pumps were down and they were waiting for a tech.  Got up early and sat in line.  Cash only.  People were not happy when they got there because the ATM was down.
Iíve never seen anything like this before.
The shore was devastated.  Boardwalks and rides were were on just this summer are gone.  My brother told me about a friend of his that had a house by the shore. Showed me a video of where the house WAS.  Just a sand lot there now.  Not even a trace of a house.

I am over hurricanes.  They are no fun at all.
I am one of the lucky ones

Hi Keith and Randy,

We really lucked out here in NY.  Power stayed on and no basement flooding.  We even managed to trick or treat yesterday with our little guy.  I filled up my tank a few days prior to the storm (Saturday/Sunday night?) and haven't had to drive much as I normally use public transportation.  This morning I caught a ride from a colleague this morning although the subways are working it took me 2.5 hours (1 hour door to door normally) to get in only to find out our main systems are down.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those who weren't so fortunate.

Sorry to hear that you guys went through all of that, but I'm happy to hear that you guys are all ok.   I bet it's been an exciting time though.
How did the kids take all of the excitement?

My kids would enjoy that too.   How long are they gonna be out of school?

Just got an email from the school.  Monday-Wednesday were scheduled half days already with teacher conferences and that won't change.  Thursday and Friday were supposed to be off days but they will probably have school those days now
