I was elated with joy. Got weak in my knees when I first held Emily. As a man, I'll admit I cried from happiness and feelings....I also remember thinking my mom and dad will be so proud...and 5 1/2 years later and I remember that day like it was yesterday.

The only thing that did bother me the day Emily was born was living so far away from family that nobody was there to enjoy our bundle of joy. Still bothers me to this day  =(

Great little story Pat.  I know exactly what you mean.  Your a great dad.
Fortunately for me, all of my family lives close to me so I can only imagine what you feel.

I was so burned out from the stress of the delivery that I was just sort of in shock, but happy.  It quickly went through phases of being scared shitless to being over the moon happy.

I know exactly what Keet means by scared shitless.

For me mostly it was just a mix of joy, happiness, protectiveness, pride, love, scared, tiredness, and confusion because all of those emotions trying to be there at the same time. When I held him that first time I never wanted to let him go, and I haven't in my heart.

Scare, elated, happy, and everything in between.  It took us about 2 years to conceive our first, Quinn, and so when she was born we were so happy.  However we had to wait 3 days to hold her because she went straight to the NICU because she had a fractured clavicle and a hole in her lung.  Everyday since than has been a blast, and can not wait for our third one to be born in May.  For those who were not tracking, we recently found out that it will be a girl, named Greta.  Now Will and I are outnumbered. Lol

Congrats Keith!   You know our daughter will be born in Feb and we are naming her Kambria.  Things will be even here 3 - 3.  LOL
All great stories guys.  When a child is born almost all dads are the same, scared crapless and happy as hell.  :)

Makes sense. We were picking graham or Greta depending on the sex. My grandmothers maiden name was Graham, and my wives mothers name is gretchen

Without a doubt the most emotional day of my life.  I truly cannot explain my feelings because it was a mixture of everything.  Now I can't wait for them to be out of the house  :)*  jk

Like Pat, we had nobody here.  My step sister was in the delivery room with us, but she was the only family we had up here at the time (still the same).  In laws and my mom came up the following week for Christmas and then my dad and his wife followed a couple of months later.  They may not have been there for the birth, but they got to spend a lot of time with him regardless.
