Hey Guys.. I am now a new Step-Dad!
« on: February 28, 2014, 04:00:10 AM »
Hey all,

Long time no post.  I trust everyone has been well. Since the last time I was online, (606 Days ago according to Xbox Live)  I have officially changed my home situation.

1. I moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC.  (Finally get to see the ocean every day.)

2. I got rid of my ex-abusive girlfriend, Christina.

3. I added a new girlfriend/fiance, Candace. :)

4. I also added her kids with my kids. Her son aged 9 and her daughter age 7.

5. I might end up in the asylum before age 40.  lol

Anyway, Has anyone had to deal with a kid that has severe ADHD?  The step-kid was abused physically heavily by his biological dad and his half older brothers.   He is in counseling, taking Ritalin and other meds to control his moods.  Is there any Anger Management skills that I can perform, in order not to strangle this kid?  (Not literally going to do that.. lol)   I have tried everything, from counting to ten to walking out the door for a walk.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well!

Hey man.  Great to hear from you and that things are going good.

My oldest son has ADHD.  He is much better now that he has gotten older (he is now 15).  He wasn't severe.  Have you tried caffeine to calm down the ADHD?  Believe it it not, it works.  Try some coffee as well.  Caffeine is a stimulant, but it helps the brain to focus as well.

Yeah,

We've tried Caffeine and other means for him, and it's like it will work but after a few days it stops working. lol

I also bought him a tablet so he can play games on it and use it for his homework.  It's calmed him down some.

Either which, lol  It is great to finally be back online.

Hope you guys have been well.

Its good that you have found a few good things to help calm him down when he gets very hyper.  I have heard that a good diet can help too.  Maybe if we could get away from all the crap and chemicals we put into our food.

I have my lil one who is 11 now and I keep him active with outdoor activities like fishing and mechanical stuff. If you can keep him looking at things he can put together or hand eye movement while working with him in taking him and talking to him Eye to Eye and don't forget to hug him a lot you should see some calming. He is and will find some powerful solace with his Dad's interaction (meaning you) by his side. He will go through a lot of interest and its very encouraging to watch his improvement...OBD
