Info on embedding videos
« on: December 28, 2006, 09:56:03 AM »
FYI: The Youtube and Google video buttons now work.   Just use the video id number inside of the embedding statement.

Then you would need to know the exact file name and url (file types avi, mpg, wmv) and embed them in the stream statement.   I'll go over it with you since I know you really have been asking about it a lot.

Sorry, but home-made porn is not allowed, no matter how good you think you look in that dress.

You can't embed stuff unless it's already on the web.   And the file size upload limitations of this site will prohibit you from uploading something as large as a video.

I reccommend if you wish to post a video from your computer, yes Fro is correct it needs to be uploaded somewhere.  photobucket.com can upload videos, but you will have to check the limitations there as well...  It will also provide codes for you to post in threads.

Just one suggestion.
Thanks,
James Reardon

So can I just post the embed code from a video into a post on here for a video from youtube or do I have to post it as an attachment? I'm not familiar with forum posting. I didn't understand about using the embed code thing...

Yes and no.  In theory you can, but the embedded video function is broken right now.  Since we installed the custom skin for the site, the embedding video has not worked.  We hope to have it working soon.

So if you wanted to embed a youtube video, you'd click the youtube button and it will put a set of instructions in the body of your message.    Between the ] and the [ you'd put the video ID of the video that you want to include.  So if the youtube url ended in v=fk4jCV4D then you'd put fk4jCV4D between the brackets.   When you this the post button to post your message, the embedding will show up for everyone to see.
