Good Sub Book
« on: April 22, 2006, 03:17:07 AM »
If you're looking for a good read and want something in the military genre, I recommend Dangerous Ground by Larry Bond. It's a Submarine adventure novel that's full of intrigue and suspense.

I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't accurate. I hate submarine books that are inaccurate to the extreme. This one was good and brought back some memories for me. The submarine is an old flight 688 (Los Angeles) class fast attack, like the one I was on. He was right on with the descriptions of the forward section of the sub. The narrative he had almost made me smell the sub smell. It's a unique smell of machinery oil and stale air that permeates every thing.
