Show me a person that likes to run and I'll show you a person who has a weird fascination for pain.

Me... I like walking, hiking, and chasing the kid around the soccer field. Strength training is a plus as well.

A little over a year ago I lost a hundred pounds. Still had a lot more to go, but fell off the wagon. Gained back about 40 pounds. I'm back at it, but I have about a hundred to lose. I'm one of those guys that caries weight well, so I don't even look as heavy as I am. I'm also active when I'm not at work. Work is the killer for me.

The way I do it is one day at a time. I count calories and I only worry about that day. Just doing good today. I eat healthily, cutting out processed sugars, watching sodium intake, minimizing saturated fat, eating lots of vegetables, and drinking lots of water. The whole key is the one day at a time for me. I can do anything for one day and before I know it's been several days and I am losing. My ultimate goal is to change my lifestyle to one I can live with for the rest of my life. I am not in it to lose weight, but to be healthy.

The way I count calories is I figure out my BMR (basic metabolic rate), or the amount of calories I burn not doing anything different. I add calories to the burned side as I exercise, then take that total and subtract 1000 calories. The result is the amount of calories I can eat for the day. By doing this I lose about 2 pounds a week, which is a very healthy weight loss rate. I have a program on my PDA that does all that for me. It even has a database of foods that has calories and nutritional info. The database can be updated and added to as I want. It's really cool.

Sorry  -hijacked-

Not sure about the internet, but there is a desk top version that I use. It synchronizes with my palm. It will also stand alone. The software is located at www.keyoe.com

Wow 100 pounds is awesome!  hey Tazz 12:11 is not bad.  Keep it going and you will get faster.  It's not like you are trying to race anyone.  It's all about how you feel.  you should be able to carry on a conversation when you run.  That is your ideal speed I'm told.

Hey Tazz another good website is www.active.com.  They can help with setting up training schedules, diets and all kinds of stuff.  I think youcan also find 5k's in your area there and even sign up for them
