Looks Like a SAHD move for me
« on: October 13, 2007, 08:18:15 AM »
With the new addition, my better half wants me to go back to college, somthing that i have wanted to do for ages.  I really want to go to school, on the other hand I struggle getting use to the fact the woman i have taken care of while she went through school, wants to take care of me. Im not worried about finances cause she makes great money and has even recieved a raise recently, plus she is a RN and he schedule is kinda sweet she would only be gone 2 days one week 3 days the next.   We plan on me starting in the first of 08 and i will be a sahd then and going to school.  so im looking for any tips out there that can help me make the best of my time allotted in keeping thing together.  I am the kinda guy that gets lost in something say programming mods for games or playing games or screwing around with anything really and looks up at the time and 5 hours have past by.....  so i just really struggle thinking i can be a productive sahd.

I think you will be a great SAHD man!   Is this set in stone?   Or are you guys just thinking about it?

Well for the last 7 months I've been a WAHD (work at home dad), which is kinda likea SAHD, but I have to try to get work done (telecommuting) while taking care of the kids at the same time. It's not easy, but most of the time I prefer it to sitting at an office somewhere.   It really comes down to time management.  You've gotta try to get some productive time in somewhere, because you're plans to work at a certain time of the day while watching the kids can fall apart if the kids don't cooperate.
Let me know if you need some advice when you get things going.
