but mark my words, for true change, blood will be splilled and it will not be pretty.  America is too soft and this will never happen.  We will continue to b&tch, but in the end, suck it up to just continue in the mundane way of our lives.  Too few Americans are no longer as confrontational as we have been in the past.  Ask yourself if you are ready for another civil war and the answer will undoubtably be no, but in my opinion, this is were we are at in America.

Unfortunately, I agree 100%.

The things that really burns my @$$ is the cynic in me believes there are individuals who would like to see this happen and would stand to make a lot of money from such a conflict.

Still waiting for Walton and Johnson to yell "Wolverine" so it will start.

I have been under the belief also that I and most of us here will see another American Civil War in our lifetime.

"Democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried" Winston Churchill in a speech to the house of commons in 1947.

Hard to refute.

That's part of the problem, we are not a Democracy we are a Republic.  There is a big difference between mob rule and rule of law.  Politicians have made people think we are Democracy and it allows them to get away with passing bills that aren't constitutional.

Still waiting for Walton and Johnson to yell "Wolverine" so it will start.

I really don't think it will be in our lifetime.  Things will really have to get desperate for that to happen.  You would need state support and a lot of money to fund a war and it will take a lot of time to get the "rebel" infrastructure in place.  Unless you could get the support of outside countries, and boy would that be a mess.  Society will have to deteriorate greatly before you could have a legitimate shot at a true revolution.  You would have a better chance of forming a militia and taking over a 3rd world country and starting your own new country.  The United Republic of Joeystan.   :excited:

I think I am going to try and start my own revolution at the school board.  I can no longer tolerate the absurdity that goes on at our public schools.  Parent involvement is atrocious at best.  Sitting on my butt bitching about things hasnt helped so the least I can do is try to make an impact.  If I fail things are no worse and at best I make a positive impact.  I haven't fully vetted out a plan but I have volunteered as a Mentor and I am working with a 4th grade boy whose father is in jail.  So I am taking small steps and we will see where I get.

Hasn't McCain called for an organized, sensible withdrawl?  Obama is going to pull everything out and we'll just end up back there again in 5 years with an even bigger mess on our hands. You can disagree with why we went there, but now that we're there, you can't just run away and Hope that things will be peachy after we leave.

Regardless of who wins, no one is going to up and walk away. They can't.

Yep, I can see gradual scaling down and more work with the Iraqis to manage their country but a sudden pullout? I'd be surprised if the US was out of that country in my lifetime.

I agree with you guys. That's kind of my point... Obama keeps saying he's going to pull out - if he actually does it, he screws us, and if he doesn't he's a liar. This is exactly the kind of inexperience we'll get if he's elected. He wants to do things that just won't/can't work. He's got everyone hyped up on "Hope" and "Change" but either nothing at all happens and pisses off all the Democrats, or we get Socialism which pisses off everyone that works for a living.

well we can just keep going along the way we have been going and keep spending what we don't have, keep cutting taxes for the wealthy, give a 1% tax cut to the middle class, raise the national debt, and wait until the democrats finally do get back in power and have to raise taxes to pay off what the republicans have given away the last 8 years.  Then they can say look see it the democrats fault, that taxes are high, forget that we spent 11,000,000,000,000 dollars.

he also voted and tried to pass for funding to US troops in Iraq to just stop.  No sudden, slow decrease, just to cut all funding to the troops in Iraq.  Yeah, that's rational.  He's shown repeatedly his lack of military experience and lack of heart when it comes to the military.  Cut funding from them, and then try to forego the rewithdawal of troops scheduled to come home until after he is in office so it can seem that he brought them home.  It's one thing to play political games and lies, but when it costs lives, ppl that are scheduled to come home, don't b/c of you wanting to seem like you are doing something and then die, you crossed a serious line to me, especially w/ the military.

You can't blame one party or the other.  It's a majority democrat congress right now.  It was a Democrat president that started the crumble of the bank's loans.  Six years ago it was brought before Congress and every single Democrat voted against the bill and said it wouldn't happen.  The bailout happened from Democratic lack of initiative to take action.  No war is cheap, but they keep the homefront safe.  Everyone gets a tax break b/c we are all paying for spending that isn't going to the debt.  Take away all the programs that don't need to be and the debt can be wilted down.  Welfare for one.  How many millions do we pay in welfare just b/c ppl say they can't find a job and work?  I see "apply within" signs everywhere I go.  But that money is OK to spend b/c it is here at home.  Take from the rich and give to the poor was for a time when ppl were oppressed and couldn't do better.  You were born into a class, but in America, if you want to have success, you can have it, you just have to work for it.  Quite the free handouts and then you can talk to me about money going to waste.

That whole thing was a staged affair by Dem's to show solidarity, it was never going to happen.  Funding was going to go to the military.   So that is just more right wing redirect.
