I'm skeptical of the expense that will happen on the "back end" and what that will translate to consumers.  But if is all equals cheaper things games and online activity, I'm all for it.  Just make sure you can translate my music peripherials from RB and GH.  Good it's coming out now b/c I'm too vested in the 360 and won't switch, but when the 720 comes out, maybe this will be a more enticing offer and will have the kinks worked out.  We'll see.

I too am skeptical. Noone has stated how much the console will be. How much subscription costs will be and how much the individual games will cost. Sounds to me like it might not be as cheap as it would like us to believe. I am open to a new console with online play.

I can has Infinium Labs Phantom?  Kthxbai.   :laugh2:

The OnLive thing seems kind of cool.  I'm not sure about the Zeebo though.  Seems like its focusing on porting last gen titles and I mean c'mon 4:3, 640x480 output...no thanks.

This console is really focused on other countries.

The console is around $250 and each game will be between $5 and $15 each.  It's not meant to compete with the big 3 consoles and will feature older games like Quake.  It will have a free 3G connection.

Really I see it as a portable console you can take anywhere more than a "sit in your living room and play all the time" console.

I knew the Phantom would get mentioned here by someone! Their old HQ building is just a few miles down the road from me, still has their giant-ass logo on the side, and is right across the street from the Sarasota county jail - I'm always tempted to go try and wander through their old offices and see if anything actually went on there?

sounds a lot like a cellphone without all of the tedious making-and-receiving-phone-calls stuff

OnLive is suppose to offer all the latest games.  Again, what is the price, $5-$15 for a new game, doubtful.  They showed it off at GDC and it had Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia, very new games, and on the link that Chef Dad posted, you can see Burnout Paradise as well.  $5-$15 for older games just like xbox and ps3 now, but I would say the new games are still going to be around $50, same as Steam.  And no lag?  Please, I don't care what technology they say they have or what they are going to do, there is no such thing as "no lag".  So B.S. on that.  They might reduce it, but you are going to have it.  One of the big pluses to xbox has always been the controller.  I love it, and it is definitely the controller of choice for FPS which is what I prefer and what the xbox seems to specialize in.  We'll see, but that controller looks not well designed at all.
